The success of the Mama series seems to never reach an end, with its cooking and now gardening games still massively popular. A third DS game is no real surprise then. 505 Games has confirmed that after its foray into a different theme for Gardening Mama, Mama will be heading back to the kitchen for Cooking Mama 3 on Nintendo DS this Christmas in Europe. By the end of 2007 the series had sold a million across Europe, but now the games have surpassed 2.1 million sales in this territory, with another 4 million sold in the US. The 'Mama' brand truly has become somewhat of a phenomenon. In this third DS outing, players will be treated to another 200 mini-games, 80 recipes and some brand new modes to test out: 'What Dish Can You Make' and 'Let's Go Shopping'. The former sees gamers choosing two ingredients from the selection on offer, then Mama will whip up something using those ingredients. As for the latter new mode, it is a memory challenge, with gamers sent out to the virtual shopping mall to pick up ingredients Mama has told you to pick up. There are hurdles along the way as well, such as misleading signage and incompetent in-store shopping 'helpers'.

Does the world really need more Cooking Mama or are readers tiring of the formula by now?
