Wii Play, Mario Kart Top US 2008 Sales on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

According to the NPD Group, Nintendo's Wii Play was the best selling US title in 2008, with over 5 million copies sold.

MTV Multiplayer has posted up the top titles - each taking into account sales from PC and multiformat totals. The champion for last year? Nintendo's very own Wii Play.

Granted, a huge chunk of purchases were for the included Wii Remote, but that said it still makes for a considerable chunk of sales. Madden NFL comes in second, spanning a huge number of versions for almost every console you could mention. Rockstar's city epic Grand Theft Auto IV makes it in third, followed closely by Mario's latest trip to the ol' racing circuit.

  2. Madden NFL '09 - 5.25m
  3. Grand Theft Auto IV - 5.22m
  4. Mario Kart w/ Wheel - 5.00m
  5. Call of Duty: World at War - 4.63m

wow thats a lot heck last time i looked on the Nintendo Channel it's play a lot more then madden NFL.

When all is bad don't look for a easy way out. Because you wont know what to do once your out

The game itself was largely rubbish.

Rather sad to see this list and almost be happy to see Wii Play at the top when I know just what a load of poop it was.

The Wiimote with free game was pretty neat really.

Especially the tanks game.
