GH Guitar Compatible with Rock Band 2 Wii, DLC, Prices

Harmonix have announced inter-publisher compatibility with Guitar Hero 3 guitars working with Rock Band 2.

Music games have run into the problem of having to use specific hardware with each version and different types from varying publishers. With the upcoming release of Rock Band 2, from Hamonix/EA, it seems that players will be able to use their Guitar Hero 3 peripheral in the game.

I’m happy to confirm that the Wii Guitar Hero 3 guitar will be compatible with Rock Band 2 for the Wii.

Shacknews reports that the Wii bundles and instrument packs will be available in December, with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, 2 editions hitting stores this month.

    Those feeling skimped out with the first game on Wii will be pleased to know that DLC will finally be available, allowing content that's already available for the original Rock Band on PS3/Xbox 360 to be downloaded when the sequel hits on Wii.

    It's good to see that the companies are actively cooperating now and not blocking each other products.

    ...but anyway, I have a housemate with Rock Band on 360 and a 52" TV, so I don't care about the wii version much anyway Smilie

    This is excellent as I bought Rock Band as a joint purchase with a friend who already owns GH III. So now we've got all four instruments necessary.
