Boom Blox Tops 450,000 Sales Mark

By Jorge Ba-oh 30.07.2008 9

EA have disclosed figures for the Steven Spielberg's Wii-exclusive project, Boom Blox.

After an initial sales flop, at 0.6% of the 10.2mil US owners, the title has gradually picked up steam and according to Shacknews has sold over 450,000 copies. That said, it's uncertain whether it's US alone, or inclusive of Europe, Japan and Australia. EA CFO Eric Brown noted that sales so far have met the company's expectations.

The increase in sales seem to fall in line with the casual approach, with games being picked up over a sales period instead of the hardcore first-week scavenge.

EA CEO John Riccitiello wrapped up performance announcements noting that Boom Blox "continues to sell well."

Have you picked up a copy of Boom Blox? If so, does it deserve more attention?

Good news. I'm still meaning to pick this up eventually. THIS is an example of what a casual game should be like. You listening Ubi?

Good to hear that it's doing reasonably well. Quality 3rd party games deserve these sales.

Has anyone actually bought this, if you have could you tell me if its any good?

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

It's certainly a unique concept; fun to boot. It's best in multiplayer, but even if that isn't feasible for you, I'd still take the plunge if you can find a good deal.

Sounds good, want to try it out myself - looks pretty decent. Good to see third parties getting more and more sales on Wii.

Less posty, more gamey.

I agree with this, this is one of those "Evergreen" titles along with Nintendo's own.

I have this game. It is very individual, but also very good. I do agree that it is best in multiplayer, because the single player is more than a little cheesy.8)
