By Jorge Ba-oh 27.05.2008 8

Marvelous Entertainment have released several screens and pieces of character art from the DS action RPG Steal Princess.

In development by Climax, of Landstalker fame, the game sees players aiming to become Anice the Pirate and stealing treasure from a chap known as the Magic King. A whole array of different items helps Anice along the way, including your bog-standard sword and even a whip to crank some action on the seas.

Be sure to check out some screens below and in the game's album for more.

Steal Princess is due for release in Japan on 31st July 2008.

Must say doesn't seem like the most visually impressive DS rpg I've seen recently, but does look very clean and well designed.

Hopefully will come to Western shores!

Lots n lots of DS rpgs recently, we need more Wii efforts!

I agree JB, we need to see some more Wii efforts, i see the Ds as a portable SNES, filled with great games and RPG\'s i wish the Wii can get some of that love!Smilie

BTW JB, I put a new avatar as seen on the side but it said it was too big, but how come it ended up changing?? Smilie

Hopefully that with the intro of Wiiware we'll see sme RPG love on the Wii and then things will be fine! At least we get lots of games coming and i do hope this comes to the west. Marvelous are an awesome team, they're behind Luminous Arc right? MADDEST RPG on the DS EVAR!!

Marvelous is the publisher, meaning Rising Star Games will bring this to Europe and XSEED should bring it to the US under the new agreement recently signed. Image Epoch did both Luminous Arc games and is working with SEGA on World Destruction for DS...

Climax did the fantastic Land Stalker on Mega Drive (on VC now as well, check it out!), as well as the spiritual successor Lady Stalker on SNES. This looks like more of the same, which is defintely a good thing! But apparently a lot of the team left years ago, so I do have doubts, sadly...

You should report these Japanese RPG news stories Smilie I know little to nothing about em! Smilie

Weird, not sure why it passed the filter - as long as it works though!

Yeah Rising star is a quality team, basically they brought my Fire Emblem desire to have on the DS to ease. I like their style too, it\'s not your everyday typical manga, it\'s got it\'s \"trademark\" let\'s say. Such persons as Akira Toriyama, you just can\'t really say there\'s a manga that looks like Dragon Ball. I hope they keep this up and release some awesome RPGs this way, also what happened to that rumour about Mario RPG on the DS??? HUH Nintendo/Square Enix??? Come on, off to work make the game for me and another million(s) fans. chop chop. Smilie

Andrezao, Rising Star is merely a publisher, not a developer. It's the European arm of Marvelous Entertainment.

As for Mario RPG on DS, it's more likely on VC, if anything. There was talk of Paper Mario being remade for DS, but since nothing's been heard since, many believe it was someone's idea of a joke... Smilie

JB, when my left wrist no longer has rods holding the bone together, thus giving me full range of movement again, then I'll try and do more news...be lucky I've been doing anything Smilie Smilie

Absolutely! I mourn for that ever since Wii came out. that's the reason why I bought a PS2 cheap and 1500 hours worth of RPGs. I need some on Wii. Please don't make the 200th RPG on DS, move some to Wii. Hopefully you can sell people some of the not-so-graphically-awesome (meaning looking like DS titles) through Wiiware. I don't think you need more for an RPG then PS2 graphics if you can't afford to make grphic-whores like Final Fantasy. Look at Tales: beautiful, yet not much better then PS2. I don't need more.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
