Step away from Galaxy, step away from NSMB. Try to create something new again. 64, Sunshine and Galaxy all added new and interesting core mechanics to the franchise. 3D World was a very good Mario game, but it didn't really have much uniqueness to it, it was more along the lines of standard style Mario game.

Yeah Sunshine and Galaxy both had their own unique styles going on whereas 3D World was just a bigger version of 3D Land which itself was a basic Mushroom Kingdom styled-game.

I don't want the next 3D Mario game to just continue the NSMB-route of more of the same. A gimmick like FLUDD/Gravity is very much needed. I also hope it isn't designed as a Multiplayer game either as that would limit what they can do.

I want Mario 64-2. A free-roaming 3D game like the original.

Only if it is called Super Mario Universe and for Wii U.

Wouldn't mind a Galaxy 3 tbh - prefer the enclosed, linear levels. Just needs more of them!

Mario Galaxy games are fantastic fun, but I agree with others - lets not have straight "same but with different levels"
Mario used to be drastically different between games, I want that again.

I'd still personally like Nintendo to attempt a full 4D game. Use one of the sticks to speed up, pause, or reverse the timeline of the whole landscape. I'm sure theres lots of neat puzzles and platform challenges could be done that way.

I'd definitely like something more like Mario 64 again, where you'd have the opportunity to explore much larger areas, rather than separate small-ish planets or platforms. I think a time mechanic could potentially be a good idea, as Darkflame mentioned. I definitely think it needs something there to set it apart and be a Mario game that will be remembered in years to come.

I have to admit that I was one of the nay-Sayers initially when Galaxy released. It used to make me feel a little giddy but I did eventually get used to it.

To be honest I wouldn't mind a Galaxy 3, if they could vary it from the previous games. This is a good move though, now that mario maker is on it's way out it should free up Nintendo to make some 3D games for a while.

64 2 for me. with galaxy levels as a starworld like addition and some 2d levels that shift to 3d and that'll do me.
