Another X-Box Mod...

Just stumbled upon this while looking at PC hardware. The following is just about the people at AnandTech trying their hand at modding an X-Box; a bit of a long read.

I mod all my systems. Modding an xbox a new way isn't really groundbreaking

Modding = modifying.

So adding, changing or adapting part of a console. For example, you can mod an NTSC GC so that it will play PAL games with no need for a Freeloader (and v-v-). You can mod a PS2 to make it into a toaster...probably...

ah, thanks rob, for sounding stupid for me! lol. yeah, my bro modded his PS2 to play japanese stuff, and my friend modded his PS2 to play burned games. i donno about a toaster...

So how does the mod work? :alien:

By passes the default bios to allow you to install a 3rd party OS.

Basically they were making the Xboxs in to cheap and chearful PC's, media centers and servers but they just ween't up to scratch....but who knows. C3 v8 could be run on a cluster of 8 pre-owned Xbox2 for half the price of a standard server and probably with more power.

I also modded my xbox so i could get free xboxlive service. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you know what ur doing. Sony, Microsoft, and nintendo will have no sympathy if ur system gets messed up. U can also use it to cheat on online games on ps2 and xbox.

You mean Xbox Connect when you say Xbox Live? Because otherwise your gonna find your assed banned by MS.

I have one modded and one crystal xbox that isn't (crystal because it's pure ). The crystal one is purely for Live, soon anyway, the prime reason was the thompson drive i was stuck with.
