My views on SMS, it's a fantastic game - truly great!

Length - takes a while, and you can play through again easily without it loosing it's charm. Great basically.

Difficulty - nice and easy start with a good build up in skill to some insanely (and great) challanges that make it another superb mario game.

Story - well having played Mario games for about 18 of my near 23 years on this planet I can say it's a "Typical Mario Story". Yup the whole 'save the princess' plot - hey it's not changed much but does it really need to. Proof that when good gameplay is there you don't need a bunch of Hollywood script writers on board - now If only EA/Atari/etc etc took that statement on board Smilie

Anyway to sum up, SMS is a great game, enjoyed every minute - even the multiple deaths on the last few side levels/puzzles Smilie

It took me a while to get into, but I thought it was a good game.
Not as good as Mario 64, but still good.

Great game, gave me headaches though it was quite bright.
I managed to get 110 shines before i got bored because the last 10 shines was just collecting blue coins. That was probably the only bad thing about it, the use of blue coins to lengthen the game.

I never completed it. Got bored!

Worse than 64!

Length of Game: ...About right; to a point, it's about as long as you want it to be. Relatively short from start to finish perhaps, but collecting all the Shines is a mammoth task (and indeed one that few can be bothered with).

Difficulty: Erm...see above. Some of the challenges occasionally fall on the wrong side of frustrating, but overall pretty balanced.

Story: In a Nintendo game? Yeah right.

Etc: A fine game, and imo, more fun than Mario64. In fact, it feels like a more polished, prettier and tweaked version of M64. Which is probably because that's precisely what it is. A billion miles from being "innovative", whatever that means, but wasn't ever trying to be anyway.

I never finished it either. The stuff was all there, but I kept dying and got fed up and moved onto TWW instead, which I had got the same day.

It's probably the first Mario game I handed back in, never really thought about getting back into it.

{Guild}Ohmdal: oops wrong chat

I loved it, a great game and those platforming bit are sooooooooooooooooo hard.

I think so somany people went "Its not mario 64 2" and handed it back in.

Missing, as edge said, the 2nd best platform game ever.

It is bright!

But it shows off extremely well just how good the Cubes lighting abilities are!

And the water, I just wanted to jump straight in myself.

To be honest I loved the brightness of it all, the whole concept was of a bright paradise holiday - and it was produced perfectly!

Just played this again the other day, with a 50 year old farmer who loves it, and as soon as I am through PM2/Tales/MP2 then I shall complete it for the 3rd time.

SMS is the best platformer this generation and something special indeed Smilie

Some people are never happy! Its like saying that because Halo2 isnt as good as Half Life 2 it doesnt deserve playing... its stupid!

For all my grumps and gripes about Halo 2 - you're right Smilie

*knows this will be brought back up at some point*

D'you happen to know what Edge gave SMS, I may have gone off them a bit - perhaps a chance for a review score to restore my faith in them Smilie

You'd better *waves stick*

And just to post something relevant, has anyone fully wiped out SMS without using a guide?

the whole concept was of a bright paradise holiday - and it was produced perfectly!

And then it was repeated just as perfectly for every level Smilie, the old school platforming sections broke it up though.

But don't get me started on the 8 for MP2 and PM2

Thats shocking, they both kick the shit out of SMS!

That is one of the very few faults in SMS - the only fault I can think of anyway Smilie

Thats shocking, they both kick the shit out of SMS!

I'd put them all on par, all stunning master pieces, well maybe MP2 is slightly better - it is gaming perfection after all Smilie

If you think that is bad enough then, NOM gave it a 10. Other games such as MP, PM2 got 9s and 8s. However, even though NOM gave it a 10 at first, they changed its score about a year after its release to a 9. How weird.

Pffffft NOM, who actually beleives the scores of official magazines anymore.

NOM sucks!
