But there is no splitting the market.

Both the 2DS and 3DS can play exactly the same games.

I'm surprised they want another budget level version, people would have gone wild for a SP style 3DS - a clamshell design with perhaps that phantom second analogue stick! Wouldn't be a bad time to slip that in.

These budget venture systems aren't very easy on the eyes are they!

"is intended to be a budget/entry-level console for younger players who would like to play 3DS titles - for example the upcoming release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y."

SENSE TALK.

At first I didn't get it, but.. supposedly 2DS is for 4-7 year olds. Also happen to be the age group of kids who cause the most damage to their systems, apparently the most common cause of breaking a DS is a kid somehow getting the top half torn or smashed off.

The 2DS looks like it's built to take a lot of damage.

So it's not really for us.. but perhaps this Christmas when parents want to find a great cheap toy for their kids, this thing will find its place within the market. Releasing on the same day as Pokémon too, very clever.

At first I was like "What?!" but then I kinda started liking it. I'd have to see it in person, but I might just end up getting it since my current 3DS is acting up. Already had to get the R-shoulder button fixed for something like €45 or more, and it seems like I might have to go do it again soon. 3D is often off due to me needing slightly adjusted glasses and the 3D causing a little discomfort if I'm only the slightest bit tired. Hardly play outdoors anyway, so even I can see more than enough reason to get one :p
