I think the Zelda team would make that, not Monolith.

Monolith helped make skyward sword and the zelda team are hard at work on the Wii U installments.

Pretty sure that we had several hints at the Zelda team working on a new 3DS Zelda for quite a long time now. They might have asked Monolith to help out but I doubt that they'd completely give the project to them and even allow them to post a teaser artwork.
Faces on trees is hardly exclusive to the Zelda series. It's a general fantasy element.
It looks like its a new Starfox game because I see grass and trees with faces, which were in several Kirby games, which Sakurai created as well as Super Smash Bros Brawl, which featured a whole bunch of Starfox characters and starfox was pretty much the main character in Brawl since that's all I ever played as...

Wow some people really don't respond well to logic and differing opinions/ideas. It'd be nice to know you can contribute to a discussion without a jackass jumping down your throat. I did say 'maybe' and the news story did ask if it could be related to an existing IP. Theres not much to go on in that picture other than trees with faces. So that narrows it down as far as existing franchises go to zelda and kirby. The artstyle really doesn't suit the latter.
If you think the Zelda team are working on Zelda Wii U, Zelda Windwaker HD and Zelda 3DS without outsourcing to another development studio. Be my guest.

If it's an MM remake I could agree they would lend it out to someone else.
I promise you all that this has absolutely no relation to anything Zelda. If this is artwork for Zelda 3DS, I will have my foot for lunch.
Usually when a teaser comes up like this, it's a new IP. And when it's related to something existing, they make it pretty obvious. My vote (and bet) would be that this is a new game for the 3DS, which I would much rather have than anything that's been suggested in the comments so far...

Thats not unlikely, Nintendo often developes 2 Zeldas at once (one handheld, one consokle), and in this case its very likely that the next true Zelda isnt even remotely at the art/assest creation stage. While they are working at the concepts for the new zelda, the art team can work on the remake.
While theres some overlapping, it will mostly be independant jobs here.
I also don't find it hard to believe they're working on 3 Zelda games at once.
But I bet they're getting some help from different studios (including Monolith).
I just want to hockshot huggggeeee distances accross a Xenoblade like landscape.
