I've already made my decision and I'm definitely getting ZombiU, but this is a great idea for people who are on the fence about purchasing this game.

For more obscure titles like this, when the consumer isn't really sure about what they're getting. I think the best thing the developer can do is release a demo.

For example, Nintendo wouldn't need to release a demo for New Super Mario Bros. U, but may need to release a demo for say, Pikmin 3. Obviously each and every series has its own fanbase, but utilising demos in this way is a very smart business move. It is also the best way of giving people who are unsure about a game/series a little taster of what's to expect in the full experience.

More demos is never a bad thing. Will likely leave this to fill the gap between now and The Wonderful 101 next year. Smilie

The reception on this game is so mixed, from 90s to 30s, it really seems like a kind of game that you can't really look at objectively due to the changing nature of it..

If a demo accomplishes anything, it needs to be able to give the player an accurate taste of what the full game may be like, to show them if they'll like it or not. That's what I'm hoping for, because my brother and I, like many others, are still on the fence about it.

The guy on GameSpot gave it a 4.5 because he doesn't get what survival horror is, he thinks it's should be a run and gun game.

The only bad reviews seem to be coming from people who thought this was going to be a Left 4 Dead clone. That and the ign reviewer who basically made up a bunch of nonsense to mark against the game.

I like it a lot. Combat gets repetitive sometimes if you stick mostly with melee, and there's no true online multiplayer (if you die your zombie will appear in other people's games, especially if they're on your friends list) but it's a very solid release. It's a great revival of the survival horror genre, which has been all but dead for nearly a decade. It's a pretty intense experience, one of the most frightening games I've ever played, right up there with Dead Space and Siren.

If the demo is unconvincing, then it's probably a game you're going to want to pass on or wait for a discount for.
