We probably all buy more games than we actually have time to finish. What games are sitting on your shelf right now, unfinished or even unstarted?

For me:

+ Apollo Justice (I know...kill me now)
+ Final Fantasy IV DS
+ Prototype
+ Gears of War
+ Super Smash Bros Brawl (couldn't engage myself with Brawl..)

edit: I'll just keep adding to this as I remember more. :p

+ Spirit Tracks (need to try to get back into this)
+ Half Life 2 (I hate m+k controls...gotta get used to those)
+ Portal
+ Metroid Trilogy (amazing game -- but I never bring my Wii with me)

( Edited 15.08.2011 14:02 by Jacob4000 )

I have a bunch of Sega Genesis games I've never beaten. I don't think any of them let you save the game. I can't commit myself to a game for that long. Plus, I don't have the patience for difficult parts if it means I'll have to play the whole stinkin' game again. That's just not fun.

Also, I tend to buy a lot of retro games. There are gems I have only owned for a short time, and thus are still unplayed.

Other games:
Borderlands
Red Steel 2 (I still have to buy a motion+)
Super Monkey Ball (GC)
Super Mario RPG
Super Metroid
Yoshi's Island

Ever use http://backloggery.com/? I just started using it. It's made just for people like use who have a backlog of games they need to get through. I also use it as a way to list all of the games I own (still updating it). You add your games and whether you've beaten it or not. You can also give it a rating (1-5 stars) and a small review or something. I like it so far.

You also can get a nifty signature (like mine)!
Here's mine:
*My Backloggery*

I saw Kafei's Backloggery signature recently and that's why I started using it.

Oh, great topic!

Hmm... lets see.

-Shenmue
-Jet Grind Radio
-The Third Birthday
-Metroid Prime Hunters
-Metroid Prime 2
-Metroid Prime
-Zelda: Spirit Tracks
-Ocarina of Time 3D

These games are all solid titles. The only reason I haven't finished them is lack of time.

From memory;

Muramasa: The Demon Blade (finished as one character)
Madworld
Rhythm Heaven
Okamiden
Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword
Bayonetta
Final Fantasy XIII

Though to be honest, I'm not too fussed about finishing any of these.

- Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts [360, 2008]. Put off until I have 100% BK and BT on 360, which in turn got put off as other new games were acquired.

- Splatterhouse [PS3, 2010]. Got to a really hard part and gave up.

- Ikaruga [360, 2008].

- Black Ops Nazi Zombies [PS3, 2010]. No matter how high I get, I never seem to get to the end.

There's so many others. I have a bucket of SNES and MD cartridges that were never completed.

I love you.

I was talking to Ross on FaceBook about this a couple of nights ago, haha. Funny that you should create a topic about it.

Unfinished games for me are (there's quite a lot of them):

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (Xbox 360) - Haven't even played much of this. Bought it on Games on Demand when it was first released on there. Only played through the first two sequences. It took me a while to get through the first two though, but I eventually did. Only having my Xbox since last September and finishing both of those is quite epic.

Bayonetta (Xbox 360) - Started, will finish eventually.

Fallout 3 (Xbox 360) - Got the GOTY edition for like £10 on Amazon, played a little of it. Couldn't make my way through the subways and to Galaxy News Radio Station HQ. (I know, I suck.) However, this has changed as a friend has guided me past that part. When I get back to it again, I'll be doing the quest where you have to mesmerise people into becoming slaves.

Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360) - Got this free with my 360.. got into it at first, then found it to be pretty dull. May get back to it at some point, may not.

Dragon Age 2 (Xbox 360) - This is an alright game but I find it to be very repetitive. Will probably play a bit more of it when I feel like it.

Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360) - Got the Gold Edition of this, finished all of the story on all difficulties. All I need to do now is complete the DLC stories. I started playing through Lost in Nightmares with Lewis but both of our connections were playing up at the time. If anyone's up for playing through it with me, then send me a PM or something. Smilie

Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360) - Got this really cheap, mainly played the multiplayer on it. I can't see myself getting through the story mode as Rockstar games always seem rather repetitive and dull.. whilst being pretty great at the same time. Still play the multiplayer on this every now and then, including the zombie horde mode which is pretty fun. So I guess it's not a wasted purchase.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Xbox 360)
Fable 2 (Xbox 360)
Saint's Row (Xbox 360)
Enchanted Arms (Xbox 360) - These four I got given to by a friend, at no cost. I've played some of Fable 2 and some of Star Ocean. They're both pretty good, but I haven't returned to them as of yet. Enchanted Arms seemed like a pretty good game too (for an early 360 game), but other games got in the way. Saint's Row felt just.. meh though.

Conduit 2 (Wii) - A lot better than the original, will get through it at some point. I always manage to get through most of my games.

Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) - Still have to finish off Metroid Prime 2 and then start on Corruption.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii) - Played quite a bit of this, enjoyed what I've played so far. I'll more than likely get back to it.

Rabbids Go Home (Wii) - Pretty fun game, I enjoyed playing through a few levels with my younger cousin until my Wii decided to crash. Oops. The game didn't save either.

Raving Rabbids Party Collection (Wii) - Played through the first two with a mate due to him having the first and me having the second one. Good multiplayer fun. Haven't played much of TV Party but I'll probably get this one out at Christmas or something. Haha.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii) - Pretty good game from what I've played of it. It has shit me up a couple of times, though.

Sin & Punishment 2 (Wii) - Fantastic on-rails shooter, will definitely get back to this one... at some point in life.

Super Paper Mario (Wii) - Alright, I guess. Nowhere near as good as the original Paper Mario, though. (Yes, I'm STILL waiting to play TTYD. SADFACE. I would love if somewhere/someone was selling it cheap)

Wii Party (Wii) - Got this as a Christmas present... can you even finish this? It's pretty fun, played it with one of my cousins.

I still have a few more, including some on the DS and 3DS. REALLY can't be bothered to type all of them out though.

You're probably thinking right now. "Does this guy even play his games? Has he ever finished anything? He calls himself a gamer?

...Well, before you go asking any of that. I'm SO much of a gamer that I buy a ton of games, complete a few and don't have enough time for the rest because new ones come out.

You may also think it's a waste of money, the amount of unfinished games lying around/taking up hard drive space. My response to that would be "I get through most of my games... eventually".

I mean, I recently had Portal 2, Duke Nukem Forever and a few others unfinished. But I managed to finish them! Smilie

Well, I'll leave my epic post here. This took me quite a while to type and I haven't even slept yet, so I'd better get stars for this!

Have you played the first one? I would encourage you to pick the first Mass Effect up. It's really cheap used (around $15). I like the plot a little more in the first Mass Effect. And after Mass Effect 1, you feel like you've invested into 2. You care more about what is happening in the story and you care about the characters. More than that, the choices you make in Mass Effect 1 carry over into Mass Effect 2.

I like the combat in Mass Effect 2 more, but really I'm playing the games for the story. If you're in it for the story, too, you should pick up the first one.

Get on Shenmue! Smilie
The voice acting isn't great, but the rest is awesome! It was so ambitious! The weather system, the way the plot unfolded, the sheer quantity of the voice work (which suffered a bit in translation, but good enough), the way the world lives...
I think I'm going to play this game again soon.

The seasons change as time goes by. I finished the game relatively fast (around Christmas), but next time I am going to take my time and see what happens in spring. I'm excited. I think I may start playing it on December 3rd (when the game calendar starts), and just play a single in-game day per day. My calendar will match the game's.

Far too many games left to beat. 90 as of today.

And as TAG rightly put it :

The 90 games I have left to beat

EDIT : TAG, I see you haven't beaten Captain Rainbow yet. If that's a case of not understanding Japanese (which I doubt, seeing how many Japanese versions of games that you own), there used to be a convenient walkthrough on NTSC-UK in the past, but the website seems to be down now, unfortunately :/.

Tried to find a google cached copy of it, but to no avail :

EDIT 2 : Ah ! Found it !

It seems that I'm quite the opposite of pretty much everyone around here. I still go to school so I have more than plenty of time to play games but due to that I also don't have as much money as others to buy more games. Therefore my unfinished games are barely ever more than 2-3 games. I also complete a majority of my games to get the most out of them. Right now I have 2 unfinished games which are...

-Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love
-Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

Both games that didn't exactly receive much praise but I decided to give them a shot anyway. I'm really liking Sakura Wars so far. Very...unique, to say the least. I want to get them done before I get Xenoblade because I'll exclusively play that for at least 2 weeks once I get it.

Quite a lot, I don't find the time to play much games recently and even when I do, I don't really feel like playing them. I just got a whole bunch of games from the Humble Bundles, but I'm busy with other things at the moment, so I don't have the time to play them.

Same as Marzy, I've completely lost touch with my gaming side. Can't be arsed playing anything until my fave games come out later this year and 2012. Stupidly massive backlog of unfinished games... Don't think I'll be getting through these any time soon.

To Duggler: Get the fuck on Shenmue.

Nah, I haven't. I wouldn't of thought about buying Mass Effect 2 but like I said, it was one of the games that came free with my 360. If I could choose a different game, I probably would've done. Smilie

I think the natives are trying to tell me something...

I bought the game, watched the opening and then never really started playing it. The voice acting was a major turn off, it was the middle of last semester and I didn't have time. Maybe I'll go back to it before Summer is over...

P.S. Why do I have this stupid link thing above the video? What did I do wrong?

( Edited 15.08.2011 22:28 by Azuardo )

Duggler, I edited your post. You only need to put in the embed code from YouTube and nothing else (i.e. no url tags).

I didn't suspect the bad voice acting at the time so much because I was younger, but I can see now why it's a turn off. It made for many memorable lines though, just like from the video you posted!

I would have to say you need to get Shenmue 2 as well though. I was left opened-mouthed at the vastness of the game, and it was even more beautiful than the first. You'd need an Xbox or imported Dreamcast though, to play it. I'm lucky living in the UK and got the PAL DC version with Jap voices.

EDIT 2 : Ah ! Found it !

I was fortunate enough to visit Japan just a few months ago, so I picked up a lot of used games while I was there. My Japanese is really poor, but I plan to keep studying it (enrolled for classes at my college). So I'm putting off some games until my Japanese is good enough that I can appreciate them.

Also, with Captain Rainbow I'll need to mod my Wii. I'm a little wary of doing that just now. I'm planning to do that after Nintendo stops updating the Wii (hopefully soon after the WiiU comes out). By then, my Japanese should be a little more respectable, too.

- Sonic and the Secret Rings
I've no intention of finishing it either, painful to play.

- Wii Fit
Ditto, literally painful to play!.

- LoZ PH
Got sick of it right before the final boss.

- Fallout 3
My save fucking bugged near the end of the game, I could have gotten a knife to the fucking disc I was so mad.

- Half Life 2
I try and try to finish this game but always get bored half way through.

- LoZ Minish Cap
Really want to finish this but don't have the time.

- LoZ OoT
Lost interest.

- LoZ MM
Ya I know, I'm very bad!.

- Pokémon Diamond
Lost interest got at least 5 badges, no intention of finishing, ever.

- Mario Kart Wii
Beaten all the cups but trying to unlock all the characters is fucking annoying.

- Animal Crossing GC
Never paid off my final payment on the house to Tom Nook, fuck the police.

- Tomb Raider Anniversary Wii
Really want to finish this too but boredom got the better of me.

- Pikmin 2
Stopped playing if because I found the game play infuriating, might come back to it though Smilie.

- Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney
Not my type of game at all, which I found very surprising.

- Super Paper Mario
Got stuck on a really stupid piece but I never went back to it.

- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
An abomination in gaming, it should have been burned at the stake. Totally regret buying, extremely disappointed.

I know I have plenty more that I have / will never finish. My attention span is awful...

Thanks Azuardo!Smilie

I have some ill news though... Smilie
Upon further looking at my shelves of video games, I realized I also hadn't completed the following:

-Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland (No big deal.)
-Final Fantasy VIII (Big deal)
-Final Fantasy VII (REALLY big deal!)

If you excuse me, I will be locking myself in a closet with a television for a couple of days...
(Commence the firestorm of disbelief and disgust in 3... 2... 1...)

( Edited 16.08.2011 15:56 by Duggler657 )

Crack on with FF7 and 8 dude, and get posting in the Final Fantasy thread to bring up some discussion. I miss chatting with people about it!

My list is far too long to put up, it's about 80 games I think, with the majority being on PC, so I'll put up the Console games.

DS
Okamiden
Final Fantasy IV

The World Ends With You.

PS2
FF10
FF12 (almost there)
Persona 3 FES
Kingdom Hearts

Wii
Sakura Wars: So Long My Love
Epic Mickey (sort of lost interest while playing it)
Majora's Mask (VC)
Super Metroid (VC)

3DS
OoT MQ (barely started it)

( Edited 18.08.2011 19:04 by Stulaw )

PC:

Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne
Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age 2
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Gamecube/Wii

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

XBox 360:

Halo: Reach
Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed 2

PS3:

Devil May Cry 4

DS:

Phoenix Wright: Justice For All
Phoneix Wright: Um, the third one.
Miles Edgeworth Investigations
Pokémon Hear Gold

Hooray. I can finally cross Vagrant Story off now. Handy to have this list here. Might try to finish Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Bioshock and Earthbound next, as I'm mostly through them.

( Edited 26.09.2011 02:57 by Azuardo )

This thread is incredibly handy for me!

I'm trying to clean up my backlog a little bit and have been making steady progress. I'm checking off my games as I beat them in this thread.

So since my last post, I've managed to finish up Earthbound, Bioshock, Chocobo's Tales, Bowser's Inside Story and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

I might give Spirit Tracks another go, and see if I can get that bloody song done on it.

Tomb Raider Underworld ( I have two copies...PC and Xbox)
Crackdown 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
GTA IV
Far Cry 2
Star Ocean IV (xbox) (If anybody would like it, PM me and I'll send it out to ya)
GRAW 2
Bioshock
Skate 3
Just Cause 2 (every time I play I start to fuck about)
Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings DS (Anyone want this too?)

I tend to complete most of my games in a week or so and trade them in, as a student I can't afford much, so I try to keep the funds rolling over as much as possible.

Someone buy FFXII Revenant Wings off Echoes, now!

Shame no one's bought your Star Ocean 4 off you yet either. I would have done if it was on PS3, but I've since bought my own copy of that anyways.

Bioshock? It's a bit confusing and pretentious for a video game.
