Im still buying the Wii U on launch day regardless, people these days are just too cheap but want everything at the same time, so instead of getting 1 thing they really want, they get 10 cheap things that were cheap, long after it would make a difference to the developers, long after it was popular and long after the sales would show what kind of games we want and just leave us with developers vomiting shovelware.... because shovelware is cheap on release and everyone buys the crap!

To save the Wii U from the situation the Wii dug itself into, buy it at full price and a good game at full price, it may be step for some i understand, but it needs to be done if you wanna maintain high standards for Wii U. "you get what you pay for" is the key phrase here.

Well I won't be waiting, I'll be getting it as soon as I possibly can. I can't wait!

I'll also be getting it on launch day. Even if it's a commercial failure I know Nintendo will deliver on the franchises I love.

Pricing for me isnt an issue. I have always believed in the phrase you get what you pay for. But there has to be one good launch title. For the wii it was zelda and wii sport (its new and novel then) N64 had mario.

THe 3DS had rubbish apart from street fighter and im not into fighting games to begin with. Nor do I care for handhelds really.

I will buy the wii U day one if pikmin is released (or another suitable game) but I have no interest in the next wii (sport, fit, resort) title. I noticed loads of horrible copyright names filed by nintendo recently

Don't take those too seriously. Many of those will likely never see the light of the day. Nintendo is just copyrighting them to make sure that no other company makes games with those names and profits from the brand recognition they have. Sure, some of those will probably turn into actual games at some point but we shouldn't take these copyrights as Nintendo's software strategy for the Wii U.

As for the Wii U, I'll buy it at a high price. Smilie Pikmin 3 at launch would be amazing.

Not conerned about price, am concerned about potentially meagher specs - (current top tier) that will very likely be dwarfed by Microsoft and Sony's next consoles, and by up to 10x according tech analysts "conservative predications".

If Nintendo put out a console with only slightly better specs than current competitors, they could very easily, yet again miss out on AAA projects that require the very best technology.
None of the announced in production WiiU games interest me, why should they when I can play both Aliens CM and Battlefield 3 on my PC, THIS year, at far better specs than WiiU is likely to run. I smell another Gamecube - a fewvgreat games but third party support will fizz on Sony and Microsoft as soon as their consoles hit.

WiiU is already being dubbed a stop-gap console, that gap wont last very long at all, it's ready to be filled with two consoles that will possess raw power on par with current ILM workstations. And more importantly, offer users the ability to use Android handheld devices or PS Vita as a versatile controller with screen. Then theres also 720's rumoured compatibility with Windows 8 which could easily have a dramatic impact on software sales.

I just sold my Wii couple days back, I am going to get the Wii U on launch. Though I will miss out on Skyward Sword.

@ Squidboy: I wouldn't worry too much about the specs of the U...by the time it's released it'll be 4 or 5 times more powerful than the PS3 and 360, and the PS4 and 720 will be around the same level in terms of power. Neither Sony nor Microsoft will want to repeat the cock up that Sony made this gen with the PS3; they'll want to keep production and retail costs down.

Next gen is going to be more traditional in terms of the difference in power between this gen and next gen as well as the difference in power between each separate console. It'll be similar to the previous gen with the U being the PS2 equivalent.

Who cares about specs. That's what my PC is for. I always play the best looking games that come out for the PC plus all the fun console games that are released for the Wii. As long as the WiiU doesn't get the short end of the stick like the Wii did (and it looks like the next gen will be more close, at least superficially).

I'm buying this bad boy on launch day for sure. Smilie

Right now, Wii U's specs are unconfirmed. On top of that, unconfirmed reports are swirling from "reliable sources" that Wii U's current specs are considerably higher than what Nintendo has lead on and that 3rd party devs have been given underpowered SDKs for the time being.

In any case, Wii U's specs are not finalized and it's still about a year off before launch. So who knows? I'm more interested in the games, the tablet controller's integration, and Wii U's online functionality. Smilie

"Wii U is a stop gap console" was one remark made by one developer based on incomplete info. So I wouldn't put much stake in it.

Sony won't release the PS4 for about another 5-10 years. They said so. You know, 'cause they made the PS3 so powerful so they won't need to release the PS4 for 10-15 years. Smilie

Chance favors the prepared mind.
