PS Vita:
Sounds like something you can buy in a healths store.
Thoughts?
First impression is that it's a little lame, but will probably grow on me. Wonder how much it will retail for?
Vita? As in Vitality? Or does that translate into anything?
Can't say it's a ludicrous name after Wii, but I'd be happy with PSP2/NGP personally.
Hm, I was naturally pronouncing it vee-ta, but now I'm not sure. Glad they didn't go with NGP. Sounded so lazy and cheap. PSP2 I could probably have lived with.
Vita is apparently Latin/Italian for 'life'.

Vita means "life" in Italian and it's pronounced vee-ta, so Azuardo was right on that. I don't think that they are going to have an English pronunciation for that, like in vitality. Vee-ta seems more natural to me tbh.
It's kinda funny how similar it sounds to the Wii if you think about it. I think the name is alright though. NGP sounded really boring and generic, so I'd be glad if it's going to be that. I think I've read somewhere that it's supposed to indicate the revitalisation of Sony's handheld/gaming division which would make sense.
Almost as shit as Wii. Nothing will ever be worse than Wii though.

Yea, I suppose it will grow me also. The "Wii" seems so natural now, as an owner I've never thought, that's a really odd name, for me it's just the name, one which is easily remembered by all and gives no indication of the Nintendo brand.
I remember how kids in the past would say, "wanna play on the Nintendo?", no matter what Nintendo console it was, now both the young and old just say Wii.
At least "Wii" rolls off the tongue (if you're into that sort of thing). There are too many syllables in PSVita, even NGP was better.
I'm really surprised they didn't just go with PSP2, with them naming the PS1,2 and 3 like that. I must admit I'm not a fan of Vita. It sounds like a feminine hygene product. Haha.

This is worse than Wii, Vita is probably the worst name I've ever heard for a gaming device, excluding the N-Gage.
Well I guess it'll just be called the PSV, which technically it is the fifth Playstation if you include the PSP with the consoles.
Is the touch sensitive back of the console going to be like an embedded Wii vitality sensor ? It could be, right ? Maybe their intent is to release that before Nintendo does on the Wii. We might be surprised here...

Or the fifth PSP revision? PSP 1000-3000, and then the Go, and now the Vita
Is this confirmed to be real? It looks fake to me.
If it's real, It's a dreadful name.
Is anyone genuinely interested in buying one of these? I can see Sony pricing this higher than a PS3 and I haven't bought a console at launch since the DS Phat so doubtful for me unless there's some massive game that appeals to me (FFX HD, FF7 remake). I know Uncharted's coming for it, but even so, there's still nothing that really screams 'buy me'. If the PSP didn't have FF games on it I don't think I'd have bothered with that either. I'll just wait to see what's announced at E3 I guess, but at the mo, there's nothing doing for me.
I don't really have any interest in it simply because I'm not interested in the games announced so far.

Project Cafe is said to integrate Vitality Sensor technology.
I very much doubt I'll be getting it.
I learned from the last generation of hand held consoles that I don't like the PSP's form factor. I just found my PSP too awkward & big to carry around with me, unless I carried a bag around. I was also too paranoid about the screen getting scratched, so had to have it in a case which made it even bigger! This mattered to me more than I antisipated & together with the short battery life, it ended up being less that portable. Seeing the same design for the Vita puts me off.
Over the last generation of hand helds, I was also won over with the interactivity of the DS over the power of the PSP. The Vita looks to be making up for that in some respect though, so I'll watch with interest.
Unless something really special came out for it, like Shenmue 3 and it was exclusive, then I'd be tempted. I have no plans at all to get one though.
It just doesn't interest me at all, just like the PSP.
