Awesome! It's about time. I can't wait. It does seem a tad pricey at the moment, though.

I too don't really have a problem with the price. I don't think it's that great a deal although I don't think they're overcharging either.
As I said in the Sonic 4 thread, I'm gonna wait to see what episode 2 brings to the table. That is unless I manage to find a cheap 2100 Microsoft Point card. I think they're asking too much for what you get at the moment. When compared to other episodic games anyway that cost less.

I can see your point if you're taking into the consideration that it's an episodic game. But I was kind of forgetting that and thinking more along the lines of: this is a brand new whole Sonic the Hedgehog game releasing at a tenner. In which case I think it's a brilliant price.

Add the fact that with all episodes combined it's bound to be the longest Sonic by far, and the fact that it's using high quality visuals as opposed to other classic revivals, I think it's a reasonable price.
I can see what you mean. From what I've seen though, I'd say the stages are more Sonic 1 in length rather than Sonic 3. And with the lack of Tails and multiplayer, the replay value is more lacking. Plus I'd rather have 6 zones than 4.
But as I said, these are problems that could easily be washed away come episode two. The lock on features are what will save this game for me.
If they had not called this game Sonic 4 I might have been more excited for it.
They say that only episode 1 will rehash designs etc so I'm expecting episode 2 to go all out on new themes etc.

Depends how long it is.

Pricey? It's a tenner! Great price, I'd say!
Oh, I'm definitely getting it. I'm just wondering if two levels for Episode I really justifies 1500WPs. Which comes out to $15USD where I am. Hopefully, they're lengthy. Guess we'll find out in October, won't we?

Splash Hill
Lost Labyrinth
Casino Street
Mad Gear
All with 3 acts each. That's 12 levels.

I don't know why people are complaining about the price either. I mean they want a new 2D Sonic game, they have one. They start complaining because of a few minor things that they don't like. Then they complain about about the price. is there no pleasing people who want a new Sonic game. After all SEGA built this game for fans.

Compare episode 1 to Sonic 3 and Knuckles and you'll find a really backwards and shallow game. As a stand alone Sonic game, it's probably not that bad and will most likely be quite a bit of fun (Even if it's only 4 zones. More zones >>>> more acts). But as a true sequel? That's what's annoying people. It's simply not good enough right now to be called Sonic 4. I know it's just the first episode but that dosen't give them the excuse to be lazy.
Would people have been happy if New Super Mario Bros. had been called Super Mario Bros 4? No, but that doesn't mean it's crap only that it isn't good enough to be considered a true sequel.
As I said, the only way this could possibly be a worthy sequel is if Sega add a TON of features old and new to episode 2 (and updating episode 1 in the process through lock on). And even then, with all momentum-gain taken from Sonic in favour of the boosters, and the uncurling, and the fact that Sonic comes to a complete halt mid air when you let go of the D-pad, it'll still be a far cry from what made the originals great.
I see episode 1 as a turd wrapped in a Sonic 2 wrapping minus tails. A quick cash-in with very little thought put into it.
Being my opinion and all, don't take it personally and I hope you enjoy the game.
