This is to discuss those rare and valuable games on your Nintendo systems (I won\'t complain if this topic carries over to other systems a bit).

I just bought a Super Nintendo (!!!) and I\'m excited about all of the classics I may be able to get. Earthbound came to mind, and I realized I don\'t think I\'ve ever seen a copy of the game (not that I\'ve looked much since I\'ve never owned a Snes before). Regardless of how rare that is, obtaining the Japanese game Mother (Earthbound \"Zero\") will be quite a harder task I think.

In more positive news, I found out today that Harvest Moon 64, which I own and love, is rarer and more treasured than I realized. It was never released in Europe (which is a shame for you guys). Apparently it sells for around $38-$80 these days (new games on the Xbox 360 sell for $60).

Also, Ikaruga and Pikmin 2 are pretty rare and treasured these days on the Gamecube. I\'m glad to own both. Ikaruga has lost a little of its value since it\'s available on the Xbox Live Arcade now.

I\'d really like to get my hands on Cubivore on the GC. I distinctly remember picking up the game in a store back when it was new and I was foolish. I had never heard of it. Judging from the back of the game box, I thought it was some cheaply made shovelware game. How wrong I was. I\'ve not seen it since.

What rare treasures are you proud to own? What are those gaming dreams that you pine for? What opportunities did you let slip by? Have you seen a copy of a rare game in a used game shop recently (probably more helpful to the English members than Americans who are few and spread out).

I have a nice collection of retro gear, but you want Nintendo-specific:

Two Super Famicom (Japanese SNES) units. One is region-free and modified with a 50/60Hz switch and a cartridge slot mod so that US carts will fit, the other just has the region-free and 50/60Hz switch mods, so can only play PAL and Jap games.

Ah, a whole bunch of games, the names of which I cannot remember (and cannot bother to go and check). The highlights of my SFC/SNES collection are:

Chrono Trigger (US)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (US)
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (JP)
Super Mario All-Stars (EU)
Earthworm Jim (EU)
Earthworm Jim 2 (EU)
Star Fox (JP)
Flashback (EU)
Final Fight 2 (JP)

Some more games that I can't remember. Some of the EU games can be forced into 60Hz without any glitches, some cannot. Interestingly, my EU cart of Earthworm Jim 2 has audio glitches (specifically with samples) in 50Hz that are not present when I force it to run in 60Hz. Odd. I've got four controllers (two brand-new replica ones, one I refurbished myself with new buttons).

Both have a nice RGB scart cable. About as good as it gets with the SNES unless you want to do some absolutely mind-blowing mods! Smilie

Coincidentally, I just bought a sealed copy of Chibi Robo about a week back. It's a rare game to get and to get it for a decent price felt a bit unbelievable.

I have an old Donkey Kong Exposed video and the video that came with issue 1 of N64 magazine. I also have have the Killer Cuts CD.

I quite proud that I've managed to keep all my SNES games in good condition, with them boxed (which are all looking pretty good still, just a few wears and tears). Out of my 31 SNES games, only 3 are unboxed. Nearly all of them are 15-16 years old.

I don't appreciate the fine olden games

I should

I have a copy of Phoenix Wright, which is really, REALLY rare to find over here in America (don't know if it's the same for all you guys). The only copy I knew of before I got mine was my friend's, which he got from his uncle who was at the US Naval Base in Japan. I had to import mine for a surprisingly reasonable price: $40, and for a DS game import, that's pretty good.

Hm, well I dunno how rare they are really, but I'm pretty proud of my SNES cart selection, there's some classics in there.

I have:
Super Mario World
Super Mario All Stars
Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Kart
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Donkey Kong Country
Super Metroid
StarWing (StarFox)
F-Zero
Street Fighter II
Sim City
Micro Machines

Unfortunately, they're all unboxed apart from F-Zero.

I also have boxed, good condition copies of Kirby's Dream Land (GameBoy) and Kirby's Adventure (NES).

I have Zelda: Majora's Mask, Paper Mario and Banjo-Tooie for N64, which I believe are fairly rare. Also have Pikmin 2 and Chibi-Robo for GameCube, which I again many people say are rare. Smilie

I also have a few Japanese imported games, which are always novel. For GameCube, I have:
Donkey Konga (jap)
Battle Stadium D.O.N.
Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4
One Piece Grand Battle

I have One Piece Unlimited Adventure for Wii (US import, never released in Europe) and Naruto Shippudden Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX 3 (jap import). On DS I've imported Jump Ultimate Stars (jap).

I think that's about it for games I'm proud of owning. Ooh, though I have the original NiGHTS for Sega Saturn, dunno how rare it is, but it's awesome and took me years to get hold of. ^_^

Well I haven't put much thought into this yet, but I got a few of what are now considered to be "rare games" at launch.

Pikmin 2 (GC)
Chibi-Robo
Golden Sun 1 & 2
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World

Those are pretty darn hard to come by, even ToS2, which only just came out ._.
I'll have another think about rare stuff I have... Could sworn I had more than this, though that's probably just wishful thinking. Smilie

I remember seeing a copy of Earthbound a loooong time ago in some used game store in the middle nowhere. But at the time i was young and had no idea what it was, so i didnt buy it. Smilie

Edit: Also apparently this is a rare game, which i do have a copy of.
