Now i\'m sure you guys must have heard about this over the course of the day, i heard about it this morning reading the Sun (Newspaper) that if you purchase the game before the game is released at retail off their website you can buy the game for 1p (+2.50). Its a full digital version of the game and you won\'t be able to download it until the day it is released, however you have to purchase it beforehand.

Now i\'m sure this should go as a news item, however no-one ever comments on news articles which is slightly annoying.

The talking point here is absolutely major, now i know Football Manager from SEGA seems to be the industry player, but can Eidos really afford to offer their biggest asset other than Tomb Raider for next to nothing!

Eidos a company which is most likely in deep shit right now can\'t surely have their head screwed on! The only gamble this takes is to reclaim market share.

However all that aside, is anyone a big Championship/Football manager fan? And will you be downloading this for £2.51?

It's a great move - by having the mandatory transaction fee and even having people pay just a penny on top of that, they're probably going to have a few hundred thousand more people purchasing just for a punt. I'll probably be giving it a go myself.

The company's not in the crapper either - they were bought out by Square-Enix not too long ago, so heads are firmly on. It's a market share grab, as you say. Who knows - with the extra players this is sure to get, they may secure funding to have a bigger bash at Football Manager next year.

Eidos was recently bought by Square-Enix so they\'re pretty much out of any financial trouble they were in. EDIT: as Mason said. ^^ Smilie

For £2.51, I think my dad will be happy. Smilie

Wasn\'t there a band that offered their new album in a similar way last year?
