Game Boy Classic/Original query

I had an original red game boy but it broke. I still have the games though so i want to buy a new console. however, game boy colour and game boy pocket consoles are easier to come by than the classic model - can anybody tell me if these will play the games from the classic game boy?

Yeh, it will work fine. As Mario_0 says even the GBA will play old Game Boy games, although they will poke out of the top of the console.

If you get a GB Color or Advance you can also add colour to the games, although generally the colour effects aren't amazing.

Super Gameboy is great as well; Some titles even have special borders and color palettes. I have that my original(big Gray and wouldn't fit in my pocket as a child)Gameboy and My dad has my blue Gameboy Pocket. He annoys the hell outta me though he doesn't like gaming with anyone anymore, he just does it in secret. Old gamers piss me off:-x

Get a backlit GBA SP (make sure it's backlit - as opposed to front lit)
It's a shame they removed old gameboy support for the micro
Even if having a cartridge bigger than the console itself would look a bit ridiculous....

But yeah pocket and colour will both play GB Brick games if you want to go for those.

This. You're probably best off with the GB Advance SP. Rechargeable battery, the newer ones have awesome bright screens, and they're probably the most robust Gameboys of the lot. Not to mention being able to play GBA games.
