We are working on a massive new project here and C3 and as always we want you, the member, to get involved. All you have to do is write 300-400-ish words of your views on the GameBoy (this includes the GameBoy Pocket and Color, but NOT Advance). When you have done that list your top five games on the format, and thats it. If you could please include your reall name with your post.

I'll get the ball bouncing...

The GameBoy. Arguably the best idea for a console to take in years. Whenever a long car journey is called for, or you have to wait for god knows what over half the people I know would pull out a GameBoy and start playing. Gaming on the go is clearly the best idea since sliced bread. To begin with yes it was really just a brick and hard to carry about anywhere, but it was still a useful piece of kit and many of the great games of old could be found on that grey brick. It was very retro but that was then. Over the years we got the GameBoy pocket, which essentially made it more attractive to take your GB out with you (being actually able to fit in your pocket this time round as the name suggests), plus it looked more stylish and began the long walk to reaching the stylishness of the GBA SP. The GameBoy Colour basically revolutionized the handheld market. What once was for playing retro games with tiny polygons as the main character was now a market for SNES-style games to come out of the past and onto a handheld. Alright the colour was limited, but it made the GB look as if it could really go places. Overall gaming used be far to much about needing a TV, a console and a controller, the GB introduced simplicity and for loss of a better word cheapness, gaming became less private for those with spoilt parents, but open to all people. A sad prospect in today's gaming is that developers seem to think graphics mean more than Gameplay. Thankfully on the GB if a game didn't boast good Gameplay there was no point of it being made, so it made developers remember that Gameplay was a very important aspect of video games and as such kept good Gameplay alive. In fairness the original GB wouldn't be able to stand up to today's public simply as we moved away from the pixilated games of the past, yet you can't forget what that little brick did for the market.

My Top 5 GameBoy Games:
1. Super Mario Bros
2. Zelda: Link To The Past
3. Poke'mon Red & Blue
4. Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles
5. Tetris
