It isnt Boris Johnsons job to make statements that apply to Superlink though- its his job to make statements that apply to children as a whole. You may have relatively good literacy though you dont read much, but that doesnt put everyone in the same boat. On the whole, children are spending less time reading and literacy is deteriorating as a result. So his statement makes perfect sense.
I applies to me as well. I don't read. Only when I have to do another book report. But my grades for Dutch(my own language) are at average around 8(out of 10 this is), and for English I have an average of... 9.5. And I don't read, ever. I never used to either. That makes two of us 'prodigies' already, me and Superlink

Oh, please.. first of all, I didnt use the word prodigy. Second, if you are dumb enough to take example from the literacy of two forum users who have to be able to read by definition, and then extrapolate that to the entire UK population, thats your problem. Either way, your literacy would probably be even better than it is if you did read.
I was using Superlink's words, not your words.
And besides, you do realise we're taking the piss a bit aren't you?...
What a lovely glowing wig that man has...
