The trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII has finally been released for all to see.

From 1up.com: We've heard so little about the direction for Square Enix's Final Fantasy games on PlayStation 3, but that's not stopping us from drooling over the tantalizing bits that do come our way. Final Fantasy XIII is already a ways off (2007 looks pretty unlikely at this point, at least for the US), but Tetsuya Nomura's Final Fantasy Versus XIII is even further down the road.

Nomura hasn't said much about Final Fantasy Versus XIII, only saying it would share similar crystal-related themes started in the core game. Considering Nomura's efforts in the past few years, a more action-oriented battle system wouldn't be too surprising, but we haven't heard anything about that yet -- mostly because Nomura and his team haven't finalized the details.

In any case, for an all-too-brief look at what's in store with this spin-off, check out GameVideos for a cinematic trailer (and not real-time, unlike what we've mostly seen of Final Fantasy XIII) that sets up the game's machines vs. magic conflict. :End 1up.com quote.

I think this looks excellent and you can instantly tell this is Tetsuya Nomura's work as it looks very similar to Kingdom Hearts 2.

Smilie wow im not a huge fan of FF but that looks super awsome! Smilie is there any other videos or is this the first one released?!?!?

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

FMV only trailors irritate me, they give NO indication of what the actual game will be like...

It's simply for diehard fans to blow their loads over..

Dude yuor totally awesome. And i won't be killing you anytime soon.

Looks like a pretty generic pre-rendered Final Fantasy trailer to me. Yawn.

That was so boring. The fact that it wasn't in-game makes it even more pointless.

This game probably hasn't been in development long and will most likely not be coming out until mid 2008 and that's in Japan. This video is just an introduction/teaser to show the setting of the game. Anything is better than nothing.

It's just like the recently released Halo 3 trailer. It's all CG but it is there to give fans something to watch while they wait.

Looks mighty nice, i'm hoping all the recent whoring of FF dosn't create more titles like dirge of cerberous though Smilie

I wonder if the trailer will be pre-rendered...

EDIT: Yeah it was...

I wonder if the game will be exactly the same as the last 13...

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

Woah, they really lost their story telling skills (CG) after Final Fantasy VII but this looks freaking brilliant.
