QUESTION: How do you connect a gamecube or soon a Wii, to a Widescreen PC monitor or just a plain conventional 4:3 PC monitor, people have told me to use a WinTV card but then others have said that the picture quality is not very good at all, some have even suggested that i could make a VGA adaptor for less then 4 pounds, if so post some basic schematics.
So what is the best solution without sacrificing picture quality- resolution, are there specific adaptors available, and if you use a PC monitor as your consoles main display how do you do it, and what cards do you use, and with what results?
Im sure that there will be many of us wanting to take full advantage of the Wii's beautifull graphics but will not have 24/7 access to the main TV in the household- that leaves the next best thing the PC monitor-Smilie

For GC: You need an expensive adapter which completely reconstructs the analogue signal to VGA.

OR, I believe Nintendo released a DVI cable in Japan for the cube. DVI is convertable easily to VGA with a small cheap adapter, but the DVI cable is extremely rare and no doubt expensive. Also, this will only work with games that support progresive scan. No PAL games support progressive scan because holding the B button during boot is used for 50/60hz selection instead.

For the Wii: if Nintendo have any brains whatsoever they'll release a proper VGA cable, just like sega did with the Dreamcast. Since hopefully more games will have pregressive scan, even PAL ones due to the recent proliferation (not my longest word, honest) of HDTVs in Europe. If they don't release one, see above.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.
