Yes he did - and about how he doesn't want a game named after him...at least until he dies!
It's nice to know that Q Entertainment is willing to go after old games like that in order to revive them. Bodes well for other classic revivals in the future.
His logic on not wanting to develop for Wii yet because he wants to reach a broader audience is a little skewed. If their was ever a console that was geared to the masses, it's Wii. Now, if his hesitation was based solely on Wii's new yet to be proven interface, that would be more understandable. But with the sheer amount of positive reaction from the incredibly huge mass at E3 this year (hardware and games weren't finished either mind you and Nintendo/3rd parties are making big changes according to critiques from gamers) I personally believe it's going to take the world by storm. Here's hoping, lol.
Its funny because the end of that news article should say "stick with Gamasutra for further updates"
Well nothing is set in stone, if the wii dosn't take off and he's makes an awsome unique game then he's kinda screwed, can't port it and only limited amount of people get to play it.
I still think the Wii could go either way. He's right to be cautious.
This is why us as Nintendo fans should get the word about the Wii out there to the masses and not just rely on Nintendo. I showed my boss and a colleague demo of the Wii in action (both ladies) and their getting one for themselves.(or so they say).
Nintendo may have come in leaps and bounds when it comes to advertising but I still don't trust them enough on that subject. But I want the Wii to do well so I'll do what I can to spread the word out myself.
His hesitation seems logical to me, he wants to make a game that everyone and anyone will play at first glance and he's feeling a little skeptic about how the we the gamers (and non-gamers alike) will take his game. He doesnt want it to feel like it's a gimmick.
I agree with negatio. He's aloud to be skeptical about the success of the wii and how his game would fair but this whole "not being able to port" is complete crap. All it would need was a new traditional control scheme. it aint that hard their are lots of buttons on the ps3 and 360 pads to choose from.
What is up with the Disney version?? Do they really think that's going to sell?? It probably will actually...
