I'd first like to say hi. My name is pspfan7289 (as you can tell), and I'm a "newbie" here. I have been a SONY fan all my life--whether it be digital cameras, Walkmans, and more. I recently jumped into the whole gaming craze (after years of simply playing with my PC) and I bought a PSP for $250. Don't hate on me. Whatever you think about your DS, I respect that. I think the DS Lite is sleek and nice. I wouldn't mind owning one at all. I just appreciate the PSP more because of its other capabilities--web browser, video, and more.

Anyways, that's not really what I wanted to discuss. As you know, the next-generation of video game consoles is underway. This will be my first time jumping in, and I'm ready to do so regardless of my love for SONY and my ownership of the PSP. After reading up on the Wii's "revolution"ary controller, I was stunned--Nintendo is doing something different. Something out of the box. This is really something I should be a part of. It could flop like a pancake. Or it could become the next big sensation. Either way, Nintendo would go down as trying (unlike Microsoft). The PS3 seems more like the complete hardcore gamer's platform. It will be loaded with RPGs and shooters. Perhaps, maybe, that is good for people who would appreciate. I cannot appreciate something for $600--especially a video game console. I'm not willing to pay $60 or $70 for games, either.

That's why I'm pretty much 80% definite on buying a Wii. The Wii not only comes with the innovative controller, but it is expected to cost nothing more than $250 (that means it will most likely cost $300). And, because SONY is releasing PS2 games on PSP (like Tekken, Sonic, and more...), the Wii will have a completely different library featuring (potentially) Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Super Monkey Ball, Animal Crossing, and more. These unique characters are on games that I've played once or twice on Nintendo 64 and GameCube (at a local gaming store or at a friends house). These games are memorable. I'm also expecting games like NFS: Carbon, Project H.A.M.M.E.R., and possibly others to entice the collection. This is great. This is more than great.

Now that the Wii has drawn me in, I'm anticipating release date information to get my hands on a pre-order just in time for the holiday season. Thus, I will be able to avoid the rush (which is expected). I could wait, but I could sit bored thinking solely about the Wii. Of course, this means I'm going to have to start a 'Wii Savings Fund'. At least that will fill up quicker than my long-gone 'PS3 Savings Fund'. I'm looking forward to the future of Nintendo. I'm already planning to buy a few extra Wiimotes/ninchuks, the DVD dongle attachment, and a whole assortment of games. My router is working. And, the space for my 3 stacks of DVD cases--err Wii is empty. I'm excited.

Very smooth calling yourself pspfan... I can feel the loving alreadySmilie
It's good to see a Sony fan being very excited about something other than Sony. Hope you won't be disappointed, I know I won't beSmilie

Great first post!
I can't say I'm as excited as you are about the Wii, but if the Wii can convert hardcore Sony fans like yourself, the future is looking very bright for Nintendo.

Oh, and I don't think anybody here will hate on you because you've got a PSP, in fact, there are several members here who have one and are enjoying it. There are some good games available for the system after all. I personally like Loco Roco very much from what I played so far.(except I'm still not used to the controls, I really wish there was a tilt sensor in the PSP).

Also, I encourage you to get the new Zelda with your Wii, it's shaping up to be a amazing game(just ask msenyszak, the lucky bastard got a chance to play it!). Check out the latest trailer at Zelda.com
.

Anyway, great to have you on board and be sure to stay; you seem like a great new member!

A star for one of the best first posts I have ever seen.

Welcome PSP-Fan! It's excellent to see that the Wii is enticing Sony fans to jump aboard; you won't regret your decision. The Wii should be nothing short of amazing. And now you'll be able to enjoy fantastic titles like Mario Galaxy and Zelda Twilight Princess!

I own a PSP myself. But I haven't bought any games for it since I got it, last Christmas. I am interested in Loco Roco however.

Zelda does look exciting. Thanks very much for your support, all. Talking about LocoRoco, I'm very excited about this game. Truly the best PSP game I've seen yet. I went to EBGames and I got a free demo disc (I reccomend you do that SOundworks). There's also a demo for download to the memory stick. It only takes up about 7MB so the 32MB card that comes with it should be sufficient enough to hold a demo. Both the demo disc and memory stick demo have different levels. THat's a big plus.

LocoRoco seems like such a weird game, but it does seem very fun, one of few fun games I've seen on PSP. Most(MOST, not ALL) of it's just the same as on PS2, and didn't really like that, so PSP isn't really my choice of system, but it IS getting some very nice games.
Btw,pspfan, why don't you post more often? You seem like a member who could actually be of good influence on the forum(instead of just disturbing each and every other member, like I do:lolSmilie

Hey welcome to C3! As you know the Wii will advance gaming to the next stage. Although some genre will fail to use Wii's capabilities (like fighting games), hopefully with the Wii, new gaming ideas will be introduced to us. I fear that the Wii controller is not used effectively and only used for mini games (Like the DS) or completely ignored by companies because of lack of use.
As you might notice, the Wii is heavily peripheral dependant with all those add ons and stuff. Forcing us to buy a single item just for a single game. (a bit like those drums you get from those DK games). Hopefully Nintendo can price them correctly so that they are affordable and worth buying.
If you have lots friends you can enjoy great multiplayer games! Like Super Smash Brothers Brawl, of course its also online but the sheer fun comes from your mates whining and crying about losing.

By the way have you owned previous consoles before? Or is PSP your only gaming device?

You found the word nipple! And you love touching them!

Great post! I'm really looking forward to the Wii personally. I really feel that Nintendo have got it right with it's phiolosopy on this one and the hype can surely only be a good thing. With the well documented success of the DS hopefully a snowball affect can be created and Nintendo can build some serious momentum going into quarter 4 of 2006.

With so many potentially stellar titles on the horizon for the Wii I really feel that the ball is well and truly in Nintendo's court for it to be a big hit. It is in it's best financial state for god knows how many years and with this in mind so much energy can be concentrated towards this revolutiotionary idea.

Personally, I truly believe that the sky is the limit, in terms of developing for the Wii, as it's motion sensors are a brand new piece of technology and experimentation will be the key to how we play our games in the future. Truly have to say kudos to Nintendo again Smilie

From what I have seen of the game Loco Roco looks to be rather different and interesting. A friend of mine also has the demo disk and while he dislikes it both my brother and I enjoy it.

It is great to see your intrest in the Wii. The launch price for the PS3 is incredibly high so most people will probably be waiting for a price drop. While people wait they can look into the Wii and get a feel of a different side to games.

Great first post. Welcome to the forums.

Btw,pspfan, why don't you post more often?

I am currently on vacation, and I'm forced to use dial-up because my wi-fi card isn't working properly. So, I haven't begun to post as much as I will in the future. Trust me.

I agree with you. Nintendo will publish good games for the Wii, but I'm not so sure that third-party developers like Ubisoft, Square Enix, Atari, EA Games, and others, will be able to maximize the motion-sensing capabilities of the Wii. Also, it will be interesting to see what attachments come for the controller once the Wii is released. Whether the zapper or other attachments become available is the question.

BTW: I've been a Nintendo portable fan for a while now. GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Advance SP. The thing that turned me off from the DS was its bulkiness and plastic-ness. Also, the lack of audio, video, and internet features (which I hear is coming soon). The DS Lite looks really nice, though.

Thanks so much for your compliments. I look forward to becoming an avid member on this board once I return from vacation. Smilie

Huh...you're one of the few Sony fans that aren't blinded.

Tell me...coming from a Sony fan such as yourself...uh...what are your thoughts on the PS3 and its *cough* controller? Are you actually impressed?

Well I guess Warhawk looks pretty fun...I'd like to play it.

hello pspfan. welcome. i completely understand that the price of the ps3 is too much for mere mortals but i still will look forward to buying one in the future after it has proved itself. as far as the wii goes you'll find alot of fans here as well as the one of the best nintendo news resources. the guys are great here and i joined not so long ago and everyone is great. enjoy.

oh i forgot. ubi have so far done a good job with the wii from what we can tell and ea seem to be going downt the right [path with madden. as for SE well i never worry as they produce some of the best games in the world and a new online crystal chronicals and DQ will do them no harm. as you said most of it will fall on nintendo to start with and so i look forward to nintendo wii games with bated breath.

Good for you in going for something different in the Nintendo Wii.

You can always get a PS3 at a later date (hopefully when the price has dropped to something more reasonable as well!) if you still want to Smilie

Great post. It's good to see the console getting people interested and converting fans.

Great first post and welcome to the fold! Smilie

In the industry, it is truly an exciting time. It is great to see other people besides Nintendo fans getting excited about what's to come! Smilie

Oh, and we'll fix the PSP in you soon enough. Smilie

welcome PSP fan and yeah like some other people have said great first post. I think if Nintendo advertise well like they have been doing in Europe with the DS even if there have been some awful adverts although the Tetris one was a great and and has long has they maintain there relationship with Third party developers I can see it becoming a sucsess because there are some truly great titles coming out for it.

Tell me...coming from a Sony fan such as yourself...uh...what are your thoughts on the PS3 and its *cough* controller? Are you actually impressed?

Well, I'm very impressed with how SONY has done the PS3. It is a long way from the original Playstation and the best-selling PS2, but it is something provocative, you must admit. Offering a gaming device for $600 can mean abandoning the majority of your potential buyers under 21. That is a risky job. Gaming is becoming more of an upscale industry. It is also catering to older people.

Unfortunately, Blu-Ray and HDMI have made the PS3 extremely expensive, causing for many (like me) to consider another platform. If SONY would've left out these features, the PS3 could've easily cost $400. It's controller isn't completely motion-sensing, but we all know SONY threw that in because of the Wii buzz at the TGS. Its controller is classic, like the original. It gave identity to the PS, even as the design changed rapidly. So, it was a good idea that SONY kept the controller. With SONY abandoning the rumble (which was key to connecting gamers with their console), it kind of made me angry. I've gotten my hands on PS2 controllers and I have always liked the rumble. It is a very nice feature.

Once again, I'm not in to dogging Nintendo just because I have been a longtime SONY fan. I'm not in to dogging SONY either. Nintendo and SONY each have good points and bad points. They have both lended a big hand to the gaming industry. They deserve respect from each and every gamer. I might be a new gamer, but I read Wikipedia! (which means I do know something Smilie)

Smilie!

I'm not even sure why that's funny to be honest.
