I'd first like to say hi. My name is pspfan7289 (as you can tell), and I'm a "newbie" here. I have been a SONY fan all my life--whether it be digital cameras, Walkmans, and more. I recently jumped into the whole gaming craze (after years of simply playing with my PC) and I bought a PSP for $250. Don't hate on me. Whatever you think about your DS, I respect that. I think the DS Lite is sleek and nice. I wouldn't mind owning one at all. I just appreciate the PSP more because of its other capabilities--web browser, video, and more.
Anyways, that's not really what I wanted to discuss. As you know, the next-generation of video game consoles is underway. This will be my first time jumping in, and I'm ready to do so regardless of my love for SONY and my ownership of the PSP. After reading up on the Wii's "revolution"ary controller, I was stunned--Nintendo is doing something different. Something out of the box. This is really something I should be a part of. It could flop like a pancake. Or it could become the next big sensation. Either way, Nintendo would go down as trying (unlike Microsoft). The PS3 seems more like the complete hardcore gamer's platform. It will be loaded with RPGs and shooters. Perhaps, maybe, that is good for people who would appreciate. I cannot appreciate something for $600--especially a video game console. I'm not willing to pay $60 or $70 for games, either.
That's why I'm pretty much 80% definite on buying a Wii. The Wii not only comes with the innovative controller, but it is expected to cost nothing more than $250 (that means it will most likely cost $300). And, because SONY is releasing PS2 games on PSP (like Tekken, Sonic, and more...), the Wii will have a completely different library featuring (potentially) Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Super Monkey Ball, Animal Crossing, and more. These unique characters are on games that I've played once or twice on Nintendo 64 and GameCube (at a local gaming store or at a friends house). These games are memorable. I'm also expecting games like NFS: Carbon, Project H.A.M.M.E.R., and possibly others to entice the collection. This is great. This is more than great.
Now that the Wii has drawn me in, I'm anticipating release date information to get my hands on a pre-order just in time for the holiday season. Thus, I will be able to avoid the rush (which is expected). I could wait, but I could sit bored thinking solely about the Wii. Of course, this means I'm going to have to start a 'Wii Savings Fund'. At least that will fill up quicker than my long-gone 'PS3 Savings Fund'. I'm looking forward to the future of Nintendo. I'm already planning to buy a few extra Wiimotes/ninchuks, the DVD dongle attachment, and a whole assortment of games. My router is working. And, the space for my 3 stacks of DVD cases--err Wii is empty. I'm excited.
