450,000 Pre-Orders For Final Fantasy III

Titles says it all. Yet ANOTHER system seller. Man Japanese people are rich...

According to DS-Gamer, Japanese shops have totaled the amount of pre-orders for Final Fantasy III to be at around 400,000 to 450,000. It sounds like if you wanted to get your hands on that game early, then you might already be too late. The game is scheduled to release this August 24th in Japan.

My god...if Ninty DID want to take over the world..their on the right track.

thats an insane amount of pre orders... but I guess its understandable if they are releasing the black DS lite with it... how can there be anyone left in Japan without a DS? The pink one sold pretty well and so did the earlier ones released. Maybe in Japan its custonary to have at least two

That's what I'm thinking, surely sales will level out now. Everyone who wants a DS MUST have one by now...surely?

That's what they said about the PS2, and it just kept on selling. Apparently when something is popular in Japan, Japanese people want a new colour for every room. (And I'm not talking about the walls here)

thats really mad... since stuff is so expensive over there I don't know how they can afford it... I really don't...

It's nice to see Nintendo doing so well again. Hope the Wii does as well as DS.

its not surprising this is like the biggests release on the ds since its launch and SE were very clever to do it. same can be said for the new DQ on DS that will do similar. maybe this will prove that the ds is a viable platfor for a good rpg. who knows maybe after this they may even consider redoing all of them or even just updating final fantasy vii, viii and ix. who knows but if they didn't it would be a complete smack in the face for SE. its the start of something amazing for nintendo and SE to be back in bed together.

on another note it kinda shows what could have happened if SE hadn't jumped ship in the n64 days. especially as i only bought a ps1 for ff, wipeout and tombraider.

With this, prehaps Square will continue to make the previous FF games on the DS, im sure they would all be good sellers, then with those would come a Chrono Trigger, which is really what im waiting for on a DS,Commmmmon Square, you know you want to.

Yeah, this does not surprise me, I believe it is the most wanted game in Japan! Can't wait till it comes across.

I just hope it doesn't take too long to get released over here in Europe. I know FF games can be "hellfire" to translate (i'm sure there's a joke there somewhere), so I hope SE localisation teams are working overtime to get it here before Christmas, at least.

If i remember correctly Jump super stars had about 300,000 preorders but it never managed to sell that many on its first week. 450,000 is an insane number in one week, im doubting that number being sold so quickly.
