haha...
no rob, but here's another post i did at gamespot a couple of months ago, problem is i can't find it so i need to re-write it again.. and that is something i hate to do
so this read will be very badly written
Ok, so it's an idea for the wii.
Think lego in a world that is aesthetically like Katamari damacy. Also a lot of influence from Black and White and Animal Crossing.
Ure avatar is an inventor living in this somewhat hi-tech, large city that's on this paradise island.
U get different assignments, ranging in scope from building a large robot to kill large-menacing-creature-from-the-sea attacking the city, to building small transportation boats that the inhabitants are in dire need of when the city is flooded by a tide.
there would be even simpler tasks that u could tend to when the overarching game world was peacfull.
This is where inspiration from Black and White and Animal Crossing is taken.
Designing chairs and the likes for ure avatars own home, or helping out people with simple things. these smaller tasks in peace-time could be likened to the scrolls in Black and White, where you clicked on a scroll which involved helping out people in the world, and do a lot of variated things.
The way you constructed things gameplay wise, would be using the remote in this cubical closed area.
The size of the cube would depend on the task.
So if u were to design some chairs the cubical area would be pretty small, while if u were to design large robot u had a larger cubical area at ure disposal.
What do i mean with a cubical area?
Well.. the cubical area would be "placed" on the islands ground, and wouldn't represent anything directly physical in the game world, but more like a border for ure work space.
So ud see these white, thick lines in the world that represented ure work space, and that outlined the cube.
(in other words a transparent cube if we stick with the whole concrete cube consept.)
U could then place anything inside this area with the remote. Different building blocks are at ure disposal; and since it's not confined to physical law, u could start building from top to ground, or any way u liked.
(sure there's a physical law in the game world, but that's not something that the player would need to care about while in the cubical area, other than not being allowed to smash the islands ground or inflicting any destruction to the game world.)
Im thinking about maybe letting there be an option to turn on a transparent grid system, so that one could orient oneself better while constructing things.
What do people think about this idea?
