Whaaaaaaaaaaa, is it just me, or is the 'Give Star' button dangerously close to the reply button? I'm all like, NINJA REPLY, and then NOOOOOOOOO, not that n00blur!11!! Teh r teh tarded!!11
I also want to be a stingy whore and sell my stars on ebay.
Or to Nintendo_Maniac, I'm sure I could convince him that they will get him a blow up Princess Peach doll.
{Guild}Ohmdal: But how did you get the poo inside of the box when the goat was sleeping on top of it?
{Guild}Ohmdal: oops wrong chat
Does anyone use the reply button anyway?
It saves me using my gaming thumb to convientely drop down below.
If only there was a button for every time I wanted to go below...
edit: it's also a bit dodgy that close to 'Page 1, 2, 3...etc' if you click on a topic and want to skip to a certain page right away. (If you navigate through recent posts).
No biggie.

I'm guessing your posting from some kind of offshore vessel in a perticularly choppy squall Frazzle, or you're just shivering violently under 200 feet of scottish snow.
I never click the wrong stuff

Hell no, not since the quick reply receive dthat minor makeover about a year back. Quick reply ftw!
Whores.

He has a point.
I might mis-click once or twice.
What if that button went on the bottom of the posts?
Shiny, each week stars are given based on your post count for you to then award others, however, the totals for the league run in seasons; i.e. people will be being awarded stars by others, and their total will build throughout what will now be the spring league etc; then at the end of spring we see who has the most etc.
I still dont understand oh well, I'll just go along with it all and pretend I understand
I never use the reply button anyways, so when I wanna give a star I dont think I'll misclick... but it may be a problem for other people who do use it.
I think the reply and give star button shoudl be swicthed around. Not that it matters to me, I haven't used it once =)
Lol - has anyone actually clicked on Reply - I guess I should rephrase it to "Quick Reply" as when I recoded the forum for the latest version I felt there was no need for a full reply as no-one would ever need or want to use it. Clicking on reply jumps down to the box.
Shiny:
Depending on your post count you will be allowed to give away a set amount of stars each week. At the end of the week, the stars will reset back to that amount - so you can't save stars you haven't given away. So, for example, if you had 5 stars, giving away 1, at the end of the week it will reset back to 5.
There are two leagues - a seasons league and a permanent, "till the end of time" league. The season league starts now, end ends in 3 months. At the end of the 3 months, the person with the most stars collected within those 3 months wins some super cool prize. Then, a new season begins and the stars are reset to zero for the season league. This allows newer members to join in. The other league, the permanent one, keeps on going - so those who have participated in previous season leagues will keep their running total.
Your stars are given out by the system, so it's a win-win system, i.e. if you give someone a star, it won't be deducted from your own.
I hope that makes things clearer.
Just to clarify, we don't know who we get the stars from, and what for?
Now all we need is random resetting of star counts based on activity and we're set!
Just to clarify, we don't know who we get the stars from, and what for?
Sorry I didn't include that.
Yep, you will get the exact post and rater and the a reason for it. If you haven't seen it already, the pop-up that appears has a list of default messages or a custom one if you'd like.
I'm going to update the FAQ with clearer info.
I should get a star for that
Seriously, that's cool because you really get to know that people appreciate whatever you got a star for. Can they write little comments, too?
( Edited on 13.03.2006 01:08 by MasterStyl )
Yeah, you can give custom comments.
It's fucking perfect.
this looks amazing. Great work JB!
Awesome addition, excellent work JB.

That's true - It's on Sunday, 12pm GMT. This week I'll also set the timer to run on Wednesday (to get some stars in people's accounts).

Hmm, odd, it should have worked in IE. It worked when I tested in IE's new beta. I hate IE. I don't get why people begin to use it - virus prone, slow, etc. I've fixed compatibility in IE, so it should hopefully work for you now. What was the problem? IE is SOOOO bad it didn't allow a space in the popup's title, so "Give Star" needed an underscore.
huzzah! just clicked it now and it works!
as for hating IE, I've used some other browsers and I hate them - Mike recommends Opera but I really don't like it at all, it sucks... what do you recommend then??
Firefox is what I commonly use, Opera is damn sweet too (I prefer Firefox for is customisation). IE is annoying because of its rendering capabilities. For a web developer is takes twice as long to do something because we have to test it in IE (as virtually 80/90% of the net use it)
The web has a set of standards that sites should follow (I've coded c3 to do this to an extent), and IE just doesn't do it - it measures things wrong, so stuff overlaps - it has a really buggy content problem (which explains the page shifting if there are big images posted). Unless you have a decent firewall, IE lets sites install crap on your PC - and just doesn't give you the ease of other, more suited browsers.
I used to love IE, and wasn't willing to change, but after a while sites and general net use begun to become much more enjoyable on Opera and Firefox - plus pages looked better because Opera/Firefox conform to web standards.
Try Firefox, Opera or Netscape. I swear you can even get a theme in Firefox to make it look like IE (!)

Use Firefox for a week and try to go back. Middle mouse click a link to open it in a new tab or Ctrl+T to open a fresh tab. That is all you really need to know.
