Uk arcades suck. They really do.

I know exactly why our coin-ops are going to the walls, cost.

In hong kong there were many, usually busy arcades. In each of these, you could play Racing games (including brand new ones like Mario Kart and Initial D 3) for around HK$4 (about 32p) and other traditional cabinet games for about $2 (about 17p).

You could actually go here and spend two hours on games for a few quid, where as it costs about

See no Wiivil
Hear no Wiivil
Speak no Wiivil

Yeah, UK's arcades are shit, outdated, over used and they dont seem to replace broken machines. Sega Rally 2 is the latest game in my local arcadeSmilie

errr?

I don't exactly get ur point so i'm just going to post my favorite arcade game. Smilie

My favorite has got to be the house of the dead series since it is sooooooo addictive and blasting the shit outta zombies and creatures NEVER gets old! SmilieSmilie

Yeah arcade are so much fun but they are way to costlySmilie

I only ever encounter them on ferries and at service stations and airports, and they're always shit, empty, dated, extortionate and generaly unpleasent places to go. I don't think I've ever enjoyed being in an arcade. I did see a good one in Italy once, but it was so packed that I couldn't get in. Can't remember what games they had, possibly SCII (this was a few years ago so it wasn't old at the time).

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

They're a rip off here indeed. Some are up to

I work at an arcade in Australia, and the value for money just isn't worth it.

I know of arcade junkies that spend $60 a night on Tekken 5. In 3 nights you could have a PS2, tekken 5 and probably a second controller for that. Ridiculous. But then the Arcade owners can't afford to go any cheaper because then they'd bankrupt themselves because we just don't have the sheer population of Hong Kong or Tokyo.

It's a never ending circle.

High price = less people
less people = higher price
higher price = .... etc etc

Eventually they'll die out.

You don't really need a high population. You just need DDR and kids that have enough money to blow every free hour they get to get the high score. I only know this fact because one of the times I have gone to the nearest arcade like thing, there were these 3 or 4 people. They were on the machine when I went into the movie, and on the machine when we got out of the movie.
