Ok before I proceed please guys this is just a joke and i'm not dissing the Revolution.. so please read before some idiot fanboy comes in and say "you suck"

I was thinking about how excited we get when we play games sometimes.. i mean come on admit it.. i am sure once or twice you have tried to avoid an incoming car by moving your body urself whilst playing a game.. so i am thinking what if you are playing lets say a multiplayer sword-fighting game wher eyou have to wave the "wand" around.. and you come up to like an intense scene and normally with the old style controller u'll mash your buttons really hard and quick.. so with this new controller.. will you start to swing it really hard? and end up hitting ur mate in the eye or soething? Smilie hehe

i mean hey it could happen..

and again, to ward off any fanboys from flaming me!! I don't care if i hit my 75yr old grandma whilst playing.. i'm getting a revo.. i'm excited just thinking of the potential add-ons to the wand to make it look like an ingame object..

ie : plugging it into a chainsaw lookalike for RE.. plugging into an extension and turning the control into a hilt for a lightsaber.. connect two and make nunchakus out of it for the new Bruce Lee game..(hehe)

Yeah, tis fully possible. But apparently it is quite responsive an donly requires the flick of a wrist.

But the fear of induced injuries could make SC3 more interesting Smilie

You suck.
Seriously though, I doubt this is an issue...

I imagine it would be lighter more precise movement as opposed to full-on violent swinging...

In the intense moments, it'll be harder to use this more-realistic more immersive control. And as gamers, we'll love that challenge. (I think)

of course not.. nintendo isn't the one who made boxes that could break ur toes Smilie

Perhaps an example of the type of change experienced would be the DS: does using the touch screen mean it wears down quickly, or is it durable enough to compare to conventional control methods? I haven't found myself scratching the screen with my stylus, so it seems logical that using the wand won't suddenty make my actions much more violent...

I think that you are referring to the X-Boxes and their "safety" controls; didn't Microsoft realise that the added weight of the console made it harder to move (countering the danger involved), I can't reacall a single instance where I tugged the controller so hard that a console moved... even the tiny Gamecube is stable enough to be safe.

I see that as one of the pros, instead of a con. I mean if you're playing with a friend and you're getting into the game it's obvious that it's intense and you more then likely want to pop him one anyways.

A relevant joke I made as soon as I saw the "nunchuk" attachment was:
It's a revolution in sibling abuse.

Now when someone kills you in smash bros you don't have to put the controller down to hit the bastard, just swing the controller and hit him in the back of the head. Smilie

i don't know i've tapped pretty hard on the screen once or twice in a fit of frustration..

but why are you guys all so serious.. its supposed to be a funny non-issue!! Smilie

and thanks to arkryis for taking the thread in the tone it was meant to be..

yes with special attachments it would make a great way to put ur mates our of commision if they beat yo too many times

i don't know i've tapped pretty hard on the screen once or twice in a fit of frustration..

But did you brake it? the point is that the type of control may change, but fundamentally they are all designed within a certain threshold of safety...

I wrote this off as a potential issue due to the hands on report, for things like MP3 you'll be moving with precision and very slightly, but...

My dream is of a Light Sabre game, and I'm pretty we'll get carried away, be standing in front of the telly and waving like mad men - there's bound to be the odd smackage Smilie

And yes, I have been prone to moving my body/pad while playing - in fact I can do it quite often.

I must raise a different but similarly valid point. How will this work in demo pods? You can't attach the revo pad to the pod as you need it to be free, but if it's free then it'll be VERY easy to steal surely.

A chain?

Well, for one thing, it might not work as well when swinging the controller too much, I mean. Kirby Tilt and Tumble: If you tilted it too far, it would mess up, just little tilts...

Perhaps using a method similar to that used by mobile phone shops where they have a little retractable wire attaced to the back of the controller...?

"you suck!!!" Smilie

*promises to give linkman26 a good wacking with the controller*

seriously though.. i'm pretty excited about this.. i mean aside from using hte mouse... i never liked fps using the thumbsticks.. i've always been a pretty good shot in light gun games.. so i think i'm gonna enjoy the next fps that comes to the revo..

Good to hear enthusiasm tnsai Smilie

Seriously though, I think we're only scratching the surface, this could turn out to be one hell of a controller. I guess it just boils down to the games, or more specifically the third party games.

Hopefully we get some gems similar to what we're getting on the DS now, things like Meteos and Castlevania that are very well delivered and unique games but from external developers. Fingers crossed.

i think this is a topic for concern. well it is for me anyway as the only place that im allowed to play console games is in some tiny room at the bottom of my house. My face is actually less than two feet away from my tv, i dont have the room to swing the controller around like a mad man well at least not without smashing a few wine bottles in the process.

Another problem as far as i can see is if the size of your tv would affect how you play, as you could be playing on a 32 inche wide screen tv which would make one think that he/she would have to move the controller miles up into the air, but if they were using a tiny 11 inch tv then it would appear that simple wrist movements would do the job.

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
-What?

Joytech will make their own one with turbo mode. A huge counterweight inside swings at a million miles an hour so that the thing thrusts itself back and forth 20 times per second.

EDIT: Typos

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

the thing thrusts itself back and forth 20 times per second.

Smilie. Yes...because that doesn't sound very dodgey AT ALL!

It will also have vibration function.

A long slim remote with a vibration function....

there's a joke there....somewhere.
