The handheld market isn't driven by high technology - look back through history. Its driven by the most practical machenes, and the systems with the most games. The Game Boy Micro is a true next generation Game Boy IMHO - given that power means very little in the handheld market, it shouldn't come as a suprise then that making a more powerful machene didn't come high on Nintendo's priorities. What they have made is the most portablel system ever - and hence its the most advanced handheld ever.
The way I see it, the Game Boy Micro was made to compete with the PSP, not the DS, the DS is on its own - a stand-alone machene at the cutting edge of gaming. The DS has its market, and the PSP and Game Boy Micro share a different market since they're both marketed to the same audience, they're the ones in direct competition. Who cares how many times more powerful the PSP is? The handheld market isn't driven by technology. The Game Boy Micro is cheaper, more practical and has more games than the PSP - it is based around what has always been successful, and the PSP is based around what has always been unsuccessful. All indications based on past experience show that the Game Boy Micro has to win.
