A new Donkey Kong game has been confirmed to be in development for the Revolution. What do you want from it/what do you think it'll be like - a new Donkey Kong Country game? A sequel to Donkey Kong 64? Another Jungle Beat? Or is it actually another iteration of Donkey Konga? I'd think against the latter, as I think they'd have been more specific in announcing it otherwise.

I think I want a sequel to Jungle Beat. The studio doing it won't have started another Gamecube game and has probably moved on to Revolution duties, so I'd guess they're involved.

I'd love a sequel to DKJB, but I also want a proper Donkey Kong game as well. Either way I'll keep my eyes firmly on this!

DKJB is a proper DK game...

junlge beat 2 would be awesome.

But i was a fan of rare's 64 donkey kong.

Either one would be great although they should have made JB longer.

Yes, but it was also completely different from previous titles. It's like Zelda and 4swords. The same...but different Smilie

not really.

JB was a more of a homage to the classic 2d donkey kong country games. It ranks as one of my top ten fave GC games.

Now, with 4 sword, there was a good exapmle of being compltely different.

i too enjoyed the goings on in DK64 but i think nintendo already have enough platformers already, and jungle beat seems to be a bit different that what is on the market so they should stick with DK jungle beat sequels. But at a certain space world some time a go, a game was shown called donkey kong racing and it did look pretty good (DK was on an ostrich)

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
-What?

yes, that announced at some time when the GC was early in this generation's race.

It was supposed to be created by rare as well.

But thanks to the big rare being bought and then going to microsft, it was cancelled along with Kameo and PD0.

It is supposedly supposed to be remade on xbox360 as a sabrewulf game called sabrewulf stampede.

This will be ace if its a proper DK game but if its a bongo one agian it will not be as good. Ive been waiting for a proper one for ages I love the bongos but you cant beat the adventure ones.

Im not too fussed, the DKC games were pretty lame in retrospect; although the prospect of Namco or another developer working with it sounds good.

Great news!

I'm hoping for a new entry in the DKC series. I completely agree with Fenno, though - I thought Jungle Beat was quite different to the DKC trilogy. I've never played it myself, but I've heard people describe it as being more akin to a Sonic title. Others have even said the game is basically no different to any other platformer, and the Bongos are its only saving grace.

Plus, there was nothing to recognise from the past titles - no characters, no locations or anything. I'll never forgive the development team for that. Even the style it was done in was completely different. To me, it looked more like a crazy Mario world than a Donkey Kong one.

I loved them. Admittedly, I look back on the original DKC as not having much depth, but the sequels were amazing. They were far from being 'just another bunch of platformers'!

Back on topic, let's have a full 3D DKC sequel please, Nintendo. We've waited long enough! There's so much that could be done with the series if they took it in this direction.

Mmmm. A Pseudo-3D DKC would taste goood.

Isn't that from the spaceworld demo, Monkeyman?

Yes, I thought it played like a Sonic game with bongos - that's no bad thing at all. To me, it was unlike any other platformer on the market due to the bongos and all the better for it. It's definitely one of my favourite Gamecube games.

It didn't look quite the same as the DKC games admittedly, but like a Mario game? No way! Some kind of 3D or pseudo-3D sequel to DKC would be excellent though.

Wouldn't mind Jungle Beat 2 or another DKC in 3D of course. Both are excellent titles.

I still havnt got jungle beatSmilie i would have ages ago but couldnt find it anywere.

Should be able to find it in GAME or somewhere Blade, I see it all the time. Surprised you've not been able to find it.

Don't say that at www.dkvine.com Smilie

Anyway, I'm hoping for a new Donkey Kong Country with TEN THOUSAND LEVELS!!!!!!

I agree, Blizz. The first Donkey Kong Country was great, and I hope they can make another good one like it

I'd like something more along the lines of a Donkey Kong country sequel. Of course in 3d. Of course, that would turn out somewhat like Donkey Kong 64.

I liked DK JB, bu considering the fact that I'm sure the new controllers will not be bongos, I see little point. There was not enough story in that game to make a non-bongo sequel.

I didn't enjoy donkey kong 64.

It's definately a unique game what with the bongos. I still think it would've lost a lot of its charm if it didn't use the bongos, though. Then again, the game was designed around the use of the bongos, so I suppose they had to create gameplay that wasn't too complicated.

Good on them for allowing gamers to play games in a fun way, though!

As long as they stray away from the whole collecting stuff, I think it'd be fine. I'm just imagining it as Donkey Kong Country, but with a camera that moves around your characters. Just a 3D perspective, if you know what I mean.

Perhaps the camera could switch automatically at awkward moments, like when you're climbing to the top of a level to reach the end.

And I really enjoyed the barrel-blasting and mine cart segments from the previous games, so it'd be nice to see them return, too!Smilie

They certainly know how to argue over there! Smilie

Yeah the mine carts section kicked ass.

Damn right they do. I almost had my head bitten off when I said that it wasn't that bad! Smilie
