What does it do? Sort of slide into place instead? If the screen's not flopping about, it should be ok.

Well, it dosn't relaly 'flop about' as such, it's just really wobbly.
I'm damn glad they didn't make the top screen the touchy one!
I've heard/seen people say the screens are too small and dark (I mean, wtf? O_O), but I've never heard anyone complain about the 'gap'. What a load o' crap...
When I first played my DS I thought that the screens were too dark, then I tilted it to face me directly and everything was well.
Yeah, It's all about the tilt.
What a cheap shot Rob but whatever..
personally I never found it to be a problem.. heck unless you are blind or something, you should have realized that there is a gap on the screen.. personally i find that it is useful to have the two screens separate.. gives you the feeling that you are looking at two separate screens for separate info(maps, power bars, etc)
Hmm, too dark? I've got an original GBA and I rarly find that a problem, so surely a DS with a back light is gonna be fine, right...?
I thought the DS brightness was good, does its job fine in my mind. Could be brighter, but I haven't had a problem with it yet. This is strange as I read reviews that games were unplayable because of it, so must have been a few games that have not taken well to the DS.
I stick by my first comment, anyone who said the DS is heavy needs to get the weights out, as I just find it so light and I am not the strongest guy around. Very strange in my mind.
Well, the weight is heavy compared to the GBA and SP. The hinges are really strong on the DS and actually click, which holds the screen in place compared to SP, it flaps about.
I put it next to my computer monitor and its about as bright as I have that anyway, theres no problem with brightness, its perfect IMO. Personally, I think probably its only design flaw is it is a bit on the heavy side, and I can't put it in my pocket like I could with the SP (and did all the time), its too big - it fits fine, but you're constantly aware of it, so I have to put it in my bag - but you get used to weight while playing.

Ooo yeah I see what you man, the DS is definitely the bulkier of the recent handhelds, and the pocket thing is completely true, but really only the SP has made it into my pocket as the screen was protected and it was so small.
About the weights thing, I was just razzlin ya. I think I must have bulky hands or strong wrists, a lot of people have said its heavy. I think Im the anamoly here.
I don't find it heavy at all, and I can slip it into my pocket with ease...
I do have big pockets though, to be fair, since I have a long coat and wear baggy trousers. I'd much rather put it in a bag, anyhow.
I don't think the creens are too far apart. When watching the opening screen of hunters I could make out samus entirely even though she was missing her mid section. Switching between the screens is easy enough to. Unless you are really close then it is like looking at the ceiling.
man picking up a original GBA after playing the DS for months it feels weightless

Yeah that may be so for you, but for me it is the total opposite. I find it really frustrating that Samus is split in two I dunno why, it just gets on my nerves.
