Graphics still have a long way to go when you think about it, no matter how good they are on the surface.

How far graphics have got to go is a matter of debate, but either way, the current generation of consoles can already create believable worlds - so making graphics any better really isn't so important anymore.

Can they? You look at a person from a game and tell me that's just how a real person looks. Nature is very hard to recreate and so things like trees look nothing like they do in real life. They may look very good, but no where near where they could be. Graphics matter as much now as they ever did2, it just means that, say, if you could double the polygon count, the difference would be less noticable as they would 5 years ago.

People who have just got into gaming aren't 'bored of graphics'. And let's face it, there will always be new people to expand the current market. The Revolution may bring in new ideas and be a success, but there's no reason why the X-Box 2 or PS3 won't do incredably well as well- the market still has plenty of room to expand and I think that Nintendo may have introduced a revolution too early to have the affects that many are hoping.

Think about it th nintendo ds not as good graphics as and it is revolutionary and all but psp ios losing to the nintendo ds which proves its not graphics its game play even if the revo doesn't ahve good graphics we will still love it because of the amazingly fun gameplay.

But the PSP is selling more then the DS in Japan and the PSP has other flaws as well that have surely hampered sales.

I know that it's the games that count, but as Iwata himself said, if cotinueing with improved graphics can expand the market then 3rd party developers may not support Nintendo.

I think the bottom line is; yes it is a risk, but I'm so glad Nintendo are taking the risk, someone has to for the sake of gaming.

Sorry to go by racial stereo types, but

Japan : Yes, they'll jump on it

America : All the majority of the gameing population care about is sheer power

As for Australia and Europe... who knows?

I'm not sure about that really, PS2 has sold what (guesses) 25 Million, the weakest system.

XBOX, 11 Million and GC 10 Million - and without risking a flame or two but only Halo has made the sales of xbox that strong. I honestly think franchises or innovation drives the American consumer, well that and coolness or advertising.

And if Nintendo can pull this off they have the fanbase and a further potentially large sector to capture.

'Mon the Revolution.

^ I agree with nin10do. I didn't buy my Xbox for better graphics. I bought it for the innovative mech game Steel Battalion... Maybe everyone else bought it for Halo though...

I don't care for sheer power. If I did I would have bought my Xbox sooner. Despite my hatred for it N64 graphics are good enough for me.

I suport Nintendo's not improving the graphics, but I don't know if I'll support the rest of what they have to offer... as they haven't said what they'll offer.

I sold my soul to Sony for a PS3...

True, but they seem to care about power more, hence the good Cube and X-Box sales. In Japan, the PS2 must have outsold the Cube a good 4/5 to 1, while outselling the X-Box 100 to one. It may not be the most important thing, but it certainly seems more important then in Japan or Europe.

We really can't tell until some specifications have been unveiled. The reaction to the DS has been a positive one though, so it's perfectly plausible that the Revolution will become greatly accepted.
