I have had Mario Kart DS since its launch, but haven't been bothered to write a review for it. Now, I have been pressured into it, and so here is my lowdown:
The graphics of this game are good, but not great. They remind me almost entirely of Mario Kart 64. Nonetheless, it is considered solid due to the DS graphical interface. (9 / 10)
The music has the classical catchy tunes that has been known in the Mario games for years. I found myself constantly humming the Rainbow Road tune for seven days straight after playing the level. Some sound effects are reused from previous Mario Kart games, but not all of them. (10 / 10)
The gameplay is the same from previous Mario Kart games: good, and getting better. With new items added, such as the Blooper, in addition to classic items, the game is as good as it gets. Competitive action is everywhere! (10 / 10)
There is plenty to unlock in this game, such as new cups and characters. In addition, there is Mission Mode, which will keep you occupied for a while. If you've finished that, there's always someone ready to play over Wi-Fi! (10 / 10)
Overall, this game is GREAT! This truly is a must-have for the DS, even if you don't use Wi-Fi. It's got the classic feel of the older Mario Kart games, and the future looks bright. Mama-M
