Mortal Kombat may come to Wii

The face of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, recently confirmed a possibility for the next installment in the series.

Midway recently announced that Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe is the team's latest project and will be available on Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3.

However speaking to TRMK, he revealed that the team would be interested if the Wii were capable of handling it.

TRMK: Will the game be only for the Xbox 360 and PS3 or will there be a possibility of a Wii port?

EB: I don't know for sure. It's kind of like it was with Armageddon. We did an Xbox version and a PS2 version and a Wii version followed. We didn't know it was going to follow. The Wii is selling so huge it would almost be difficult to ignore it. But at the same time, there's no Unreal Engine for the Wii.

TRMK: I think one company has got it working, but Epic is not supporting it.

EB: Right, so it would be a challenge. I certainly wouldn't have a problem with it. Armageddon actually did pretty well on the Wii. So it makes some sense.

I know nothing about it though, didn't look too impressive from what I saw though. Hopefully they, or some other team, would be able to pull this off. That said, it could be a complete flop and they can work on something decent..

A proper sequel to MKIII would be lurvely. WiiWare ahoy!

In the UK sales on other formats were pretty poor, yet when the Wii edition cropped up, suddenly more people were interested. So when he says 'it makes some sense', that's understatement of the year! Smilie

It would be foolish of Midway to leave Wii out of the loop.
