Pro Evo 2008 Dated in Euroland (Wii)

By Jorge Ba-oh 06.02.2008 10

Konami's top footy title is heading to Europe this March, and has included some new screens to boot.

The Wii version of the much sought-after franchise sees players using the Wii-remote and Nunchuck in combination to offer a completely unique console footy experience. Players use the click and drag system with the remote to select their team whilst the nunchuck controls the selected player.

The level of control offered by the bespoke Wii system elevates PES 2008 far beyond any other football game. Dribbling is effected by clicking on the player and using an arrow and the 'A' button to guide the ball. The speed of the run can then be altered by extending or reducing the length of the guiding arrow, allowing stunning quick turns and bursts of speed to catch defenders off-guard.

Shooting also benefits from more control over the players, with the Nunchuck used to shoot or head simply by shaking it. As with the real sport, however, timing is everything in front of goal, and the speed of the pass or cross, the ability of the player, the angle of trajectory and the timing of the shot or header will all have differing effects on the resultant shot.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 hits retail on Friday March 28th in Europe.

Oooh yay! Another football game to waste time on Smilie

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

Im sorry this game looks like a pile of wank. It probably wont even have the January transfers in it anyway!

Agreed. I'll get the PC version methinks.

I have no idea what you're all talking about. These controls have the potential to revolutionise football video games. Looks fantastic and, by all accounts so far, the controls are amazing once you get over the initial confusion.

Finally a football video game that might actually play like football.

360 version rules.

The only thing I like? The new way you view pics through C3. Smilie

I agree with Dr and think it looks great also, especially as the old formula is now getting tiring despite being fun. This Wii version sounds great by all accounts, if it scores well I will be getting it for sure.

I'm on the positive side of this one. It looks to play how I imagined a Wii football game should be, so I'm looking forward to it. Could be the first football game I've bought in years!

I'll buy it, if they don't announce that the next one will come out on the Wii in october(estimated guess judging buy when last years one was released for the other consoles) it'll be way better than FIFA 08 was on the Wii, i'm sure.

Hm, looks interesting, but football games bore me (as does real football). Except Mario Smash Football. Real football should have bob-ombs... Smilie
