It has been revealed that Midway, maker of recent games such as Mortal Kombat DS and Cruis'n Wii, has seen a change in its top personnel, with the Board's Chairman resigning. As of 21st December, 2007, Kenneth D. Cron, the former CEO of Vivendi Universal, has resigned from the company's Board of Directors after being in the role since 2004. His parting words were as follows:
"It has been a privilege to serve as chairman of Midway for several years and I have enjoyed working with my colleagues on the board and with the management team. I continue to believe in Midway's future and, under the guidance and direction of the board, I feel confident that Midway will build that future successfully. In view of my other significant business and family commitments, I felt that the end of this year was the best time for me to complete my service on the Midway Board of Directors."
His replacement has already stepped in - Shari E Redstone, the previous Vice Chair of the Board - following being elected by the Board of Directors. Redstone is also the Vice Chair of Viacom and CBS Corporation and will be known by some since her father is none other than Sumner Redstone, Midway's largest shareholder and controller of both CBS and Viacom. She had this to say on the changes:
"On behalf of Midway and our board of directors, I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Ken for his outstanding contributions and years of service as a director and chairman. All of us greatly value our continuing relationship with Ken and look forward to working with him again in the future."
Could this mean a real shake-up in the way Midway goes about its business? Or can we expect more games like Cruis'n? Share your thoughts below...
