Nintendo News | Atlus Brings More Strategy RPG Goodness to US

By Adam Riley 21.12.2007 6

Following the revelation of Baroque on Wii, Atlus has today announced Drone Tactics, a game of turn-based strategy RPG warfare, for the Nintendo DS. Command a brigade of colossal mecha insecta and coordinate your forces as you take on the ruthless army of the Black Swarm. Drone Tactics is currently scheduled to release on 25th March, 2008.

In Drone Tactics, players are transported to an alien world where they find themselves in the middle of a great conflict. An army of evil Drones is on the march, threatening to obliterate the land of Cimexus. Its inhabitants now turn to you to lead them in battle against the Black Swarm. Each level offers new challenges, and taking full advantage of each Drone's unique specialties will be the difference between success and defeat.

Some of the key features include:

  • Build and command your own Drone army

I'm not a fan of drones, but I won't dismiss it just yet.

Only slightly, and by slightly, I obviously mean "a whole lot"... Yeah, that site reminds me of an old PowerRanger wannabe show... with beetles...

Not my thing, but I do think it's great Atlus are making these RPGs and hope they are successful on Nintendo platforms. My sneaky hope is that they release a collection of the Persona games on Wii, or Odin's Sphere for that matter.

Atlus are mental. They're releasing a couple of Japanese 360 SRPGs in the US, both of which look dreadful.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Atlus seems to have struck up a deal with Success. Sadly, other than Touch Detective (which I like, but I know lots dislike), Success makes a lot of drivel Smilie

Upon asking Atlus to consider something like the fantastic Game Center CX on DS, it said no, simply because it's a Bandai Namco game Smilie Not like BanNam is going to rush such a quirky game over to the West. It's the sort of game suited for Atlus! Not generic crap like Drone Tactics...
