Rumours: RPG magazine is reporting some juicy rumours: Apparently Square-Enix is considering bringing back the SNES classic, Super Mario RPG through a sequel on the DS with characters from the FF universe. Ogre Battle and Camelot's Golden Sun series maybe heading to the Wii, with Golden Sun's battle system focusing on the Nunchuck.

Fuck yes for Golden Sun Wii, okay for Ogre Battle, and I would die for Mario RPG 2.
All good rumours - hopefully there's some good truth in this. Another Mario RPG would be awesome, awesome. GS on Wii? Sold!
Golden Sun on wii will be just so good as long as they can make a good 3D game <_< cant be as bad as pokemon RPG in 3D lol
i can see mario RPG being on DS and what happen to that sonic RPG?

One question with a Golden Sun Wii game. Would the data transfer from the old games still work? DS to Wii connection is fine, but GBA code straight through DS to Wii? Not sure if that would work.
Might be best for a DS version first.:cooldude:
This is all great but I would much prefer a sequel to Mario RPG on the Wii than the DS myself. Given the DS user base I suppose it is understandable though, both in respect to development costs and potential profit margins. If Miyamoto is not working on this version it will lack the magic of the original, he needs to have some substantial role in the development of any such Mario game.
Hell if this is possible and successful maybe they will bring back beloved Chrono Trigger also, I have been thinking that they have been secretly working on that for a while now.

hmz..I think Id prefer Golden Sun on the DS.
It would take a lot more budget to make it work on the Wii.
Nothing like a good rumour, especially when it comes to Golden Sun, but it'll be more likely to come out on the DS, I wouldn't say no to a Wii version though...

OMFG! i must be dreaming MAN! i loved MARIO RPG!! i hope nintendo gets involved with SE and they make an AWESOME sequel!! or a remake on the wii with updated graphics :O!! i'll be fine with the ds though! all we need now is Oot and Majora's mask on Ds :O or updated graphics on wii (both of them) omg i don't think i would resist with a shock like that! u know what else me wants? a sequel to majora's mask! so then we would have a story of link returning to hyrule, letting u travel between kindoms, letting u use the masks and all, but like instead of saving just hyrule, make him save the world from a greater threat like for example make him fight against the first ever evil son of the gerudo's get me? the game should have him all in adult and let him travel to the past. cause u know how windwaker said that he never returned, well they could change that and call it: "the legend of zelda: The Untold Legend" i like it! hmm well sorry ppl i get a bit excited over this stuff, i get filled with nostalgia, like i'm doing graphic design specializing in games design. so u know i get too excited hehehe
Wow, I'd LOOOOOVE a sequel to Mario RPG. *takes a moment to reminisce* Especially for the DS. I'm really not too keen on a FF character crossover, though.

Ougon No Taiyo! I'm looking forward to it. Tho, I'd rather have it on Nintendo DS. But if they really put some work into it, a Wii game might be great.
Too good to be true, they would both be the greatest things ever, but I think it's definitely too good to be true. I still need to play the original Mario RPG, hopefully it'll come to VC soon, maybe even UK VC. 
Characters from FF Universe sounds cool too I guess... but would they be just from the first 6 games? or would we even see people like Cloud & Tifa?
Personally I think it'd be super cool if Geno & Mallow came back, & Square said, "here you go Nintendo, you can have the rights to these guyses now, use them in as many Mario Party games as you possibly can"

YeS!!! Golden Sun is one of my favorite game series of all time!! I hope its true, just as long as they don't scew it up on the wii. I would be happy with it on the DS as well.

Mario RPG was never a classic. It had nice graphics and was a curiosity (a mario rpg by Square that didn't get a PAL release), but it was never a good game.
And since Paper Mario on the N64 it's not even much a of a curiosity anymore because there's a Mario RPG that's actually decent.

Very true. I never liked Mario RPG, it was probably the main reason why Nintendo and Square 'broke up'. Nintendo just couldn't cope with the fact Square had made such a shitpile of a mario game.

agreed with evilshyguy, i loved that game how good was the soundtrack!( i downloaded it)man that game was awesome i remember how shocked i was for playing with Bowser!! i will never forget how great that game was! i would buy it on the first day! hey the game was a success apparently, in Japan and is very much loved by western ppl as well it deffinately a Jewel i reckon nintendo should advertise their VC more often. i have yet to see an ad about it, i reckon it would make ppl go like, "hey there's not that many games i like for the wii, but those VC games are awesome" so u know... well one can only hope i guess... 
Golden Sun has as many lovers as detractors. Many think it is over-rated. I don't, I loved the GBA versions. If a Wii version had the depth of a Namco or S-E rpg, then it could have to be awesome. A DS version could be perfect as well.
I never played Ogre Battle. From memory, it is an SRPG? I can't anything bad about that.
As for a Mario RPG and FF characters, it could work, but would probably be better without them. Just make a decent, full blown FF for the Wii separate and leave the crossover to KH. I find it difficult to understand how people can criticise a 'concept' or idea about a game. It hasn't even been made yet, so such strong negative views seem rather pointless.
Bring on any of these games. They would be hardcore right? Just what the detractors are calling out for.
Mario RPG has a huge fanbase, I would consider it a classic like some consider Sonic Adventure a classic.
Some loved it, some hated it, that doesn't mean it can't be a classic. Personally I like the look of it, & if it came onto VC I'd buy it in a second to see what it was about. I'll probably not enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Thousand Year Door (awesome game) but I think I'd like it.
Geno seems to be a very popular character :-/
