Firebrand Games Talks Race Driver: Create and Race
Interview by Adam Riley :: Monday October 8th 2007


Codemasters' Race Driver: Create and Race has just been released on the Nintendo DS and to celebrate one of the best racing games of the moment, Cubed3 caught up with the Glaswegian team behind the project, Firebrand Games, to find out more about the game and what makes their game so much better than the rest of the competition.

Cubed3's Adam Riley: First of all, how large is the Firebrand team working on Race Driver for DS? And how long has the project been underway?

Pete Shea, Creative Director, Firebrand Games: Full production started last October, although design and prototyping (as well as preliminary work on the engine) was already well underway by that point. There was probably 10 to 12 people on the game full time and extra numbers at peak times, sometimes hitting 25 during full testing etc.

Great interview! Looks to be a pretty impressive product. I wish more developers would take advantage of the microphone for voice chat, but still, the online seems pretty solid. I'll keep an eye on this! Smilie

It certainly is a fantastic game! Hopefully it does indeed get a Wii outing...
