Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
We check out the latest Mario game, but is it a whole in one?

Game Data

A classic on the N64 we never liked golf that much until Maio Golf changed our minds. The idea was simple: pick a character, pick a course, pick a club, hit the ball, get it into the hole and hopefully win.

This time round Mario and the gang - including Luigi, Peach, Yoshi and Donkey Kong - take to a bunch of new courses (such as Peach's Castle Grounds) with plenty of new obstacles. Solo and multiplay play is available for the various courses, which include 'real' and fantasy (Mario-inspired) styles.

Developers Camelot have seen fit to add in an automated swing for novices, which seems a bit daft to us: it's not exactly nuclear physics, is it? Not even for very young kids. Of course, they've maintained a manual swing option for those who like to actually play the game.

In fact, we were hoping for a Tiger Woods type analogue swing, which is vastly superior to the old school swing-meter. Oh well, it will be fun regardless, of that we've no doubt.

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour will hit the states real soon on 28 July. Don't expect it to arrive in the UK before spring 2004. Bugger...
