E3 2007 Video | Wii Zapper in Action

By Jorge Ba-oh 12.07.2007 22

There have been various Wii gun shells from third parties, and Nintendo are also jumping in the action with a unique Wii-remote/nunchuck hybrid called the Wii Zapper. During the company's press conference earlier today, Nintendo revealed the Zapper in action in Capcom's Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

I quite like the way you can reload in umbrella chronicles Smilie

Great, bring on Duck Hunt for the first ever Nintendo Wii Zapper game, it would be a fitting hommage. [LS]

Looks like it'll fit most FPS games very well. Smilie

did I hear the 32 players bit part right?

.....thats a bit of a big piece to bite off - isn't Nintendo?

32 players?? Hm. We'll see.

Lol -Regis hands crazy as always.

And seeing as a game is confirmed to bundle with the zapper...that pretty much confirms duckhunt and may some other wii play-esue games

It's a safe bet to make, as is that muttley type dog to make another appearance, love that dawg, hope you can shoot him dead this time around Smilie [LS]

Not even HALF as cool as the E3 prototype zapper from a year(or more?) ago. This looks like utter crap, the other one was really kick ass, this look shoddy, a tiny bit better than what the 3rd parties had came up with a few weeks ago.

Hopefully we'll get a good standard pistol shell too - though there are some out there. I'd love a dual wii-mote point and shoot game, would be awesome. Simply, awesome. Wonder how this will feel, should be quite nice to hold though.

This looks pretty cool much much better then the one they showed last year! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

I definitely prefer holding the zapper in two hands over one. It looks very comfortable and I can't wait to get my hands on one XD

I think it looks like some quality shit, the Zapper and co-op makes Umbrella Chronicles a must for me.

Will this be bundled with REUC or bought separately?

Apparently it'll be bundled with a few games, including UC, and they mentioned MoH would make use of it.

Wow. I can't believe that Nintendo would stoop as low as to produce a cheap plastic shell that does nothing besides ascetically clump the Remote and Nunchuck together. It doesn't even hook up to the remote, the trigger is just like a button extension.

I can't imagine this making gameplay any better or more fun-- are they trying to compensate for lousy games with 'enhanced' peripherals that do nothing? Not only that, but you can't even aim properly with a Wiimote as anyone with a Wii knows, the remote interacts with the sensor bar and the cursor onscreen is always too high or too low. This is what I was afraid of when the Wii was first announced, having a closet full of useless accessories and wiimote plug- ins.

Also, it's ugly.

sry just got a little mad man.

talk about freedom of speach...

Nice that Nintendo themselves are creating this...unlike the guncon for PS3 (which I still like) in addition they are courting developers to make games for it too... unlike guncon. For the low price that was announced. (Prob be 19 pounds in u.k.)
I reckon that the packaged game will be like wii play. Most definitely duck hunt will feature! In addition this will not come bundled with games! why would it! you would end up with this many times over (Correct me If I am wrong) It will come with a nintendo developed game(s) (Duck hunt i reckon)

Not a great vid but worth seeing I suppose-

It's no different to any other console thats been released, every other console has tonnes of peripherals just look at the PS2. It doesn't mean you have to buy them or use them.

You have freedom of speech, but you can't go around offending others, also, please try not to double post.

The Zapper doesn't look too bad if you ask me, it's more creative than any other plastic add on we've seen, & it beats the Wheel hands down if you ask me. It seemed to work quite well with RE:UC to.

Also, about the 32 players thing... it sounds good, but I really think he just said the wrong thing by mistake, or we misunderstand him.

Did no one else instantly think that?

It looks alright. I'm not sure it's worth $20 as it really is just a piece of plastic. It's nice to that it's not at all necessary to have it to play a game, though. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it to play a game you do like.
