Nintendo Media | Capucine Adventure Heads to Wii

By Jorge Ba-oh 12.06.2007 23

Update: Trailer link included below.

An independent French studio has revealed an interesting action/adventure project for Wii, Capucine, based on the collision of light and dark as a small child heads onto a world of dead to try and revive life.

The official website describes the game as "a tale and based on shadow and light opposition", taking place in a world where everything is dead.

The player controls a child who holds a “capucine”. This flower enables her to survive in this desolated world. The little girl can hand on her own life to the surroundings thanks to a beam of light she can cast from her hand. To maintain life, water will be vital. However, the player must be careful not to animate the shadows of the surrounding elements. Indeed, animated shadows will try to steal the flower in order to prevent the child from accomplishing her destiny: revive the World.

Sounds interesting. The concept is good, but will they be able to keep from being boring? Keep us up to date on this one, C3 Smilie

Yeah the idea sounds good, but i bet the game will be shit and it look shit anyway!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

This is actually a student final year project, so for that it doesn't look too bad. It'd be really nice if they implemented the concept well and then could get a publisher behind it for polishing and expansion in the future.

:/ the girl dont look right to me maybe i like a little more goth like and maybe it be good XD maybe that just me

Oh so that explains the shity graphics! Yeah for a school/uni project it does look pretty good!

Thanks for that, yeah that looks a bit better in motion, it seems the controls are mouse based so yeah it would be suited to a Wii, like i said earlier the concept is good but it need alot of work and some good developers! Oh god its gonna be UBI!

Ho shit!! It's Pan's Labyrinth the game!! I may just faint...

The trailer helps you understand what the game is going to be like. I think I'll pick this up at least for a rent, it looks like something worth a purchase, though Smilie

Odd but still interesting to play...maybe if they fix the graphics a little *cough* lame *cough*...
Nice story but it needs more creativity...

I need to see more, keep us updated...

For a game that's going to be about light and darkness, it's certainly chosen the one console that's going to be the least capable of producing games with heavy use of dynamic lighting. Grassy moody forests aren't the most easily creatable game environments either.

I think the graphics are quite nice! A little wooden in some areas but a lot better than stuff that's being released on the Wii atm.

It's a nice original concept as well which I like.

I think the game looks both interesting and graphically nice. Good color pallette. A few scenes stood out as looking rough and in need of a touch up. Also the light shining from her hand looks too solid. If the music featured in the trailer is any hint to what will feature in the game then it will sound lovely. The only problem that boutique games such as this suffer is being too self indulgent like a matrix sequel. Hopefully there will be depth in combat and playability and not just story. magic and spells seem fitting as well as other RPG elements but we will wait and see.

It's a FarCry mod, the site is part of their last-year project.

They don't have a Wii Devkit to make a Wii game.

The environments looks good, but the girl doesn't. But that's happened a lot in all current gen games, in my opinion. Few games have good character models.

If it turns out to be good perhaps someone may take on the project with some some bulk in money behind it. I liked the concept even if it is a little like Okami in some respects.

Nintendo have always said that they welcome this sort of thing on Wii, hopefully they themselves will take up similar projects in years to come and not just invest solely in studios. LS

Maybe if we[C3] talk about this enough someone in the gaming world will notice!! Smilie

Oh dear... Reminds me of Metroid Prime 2 Smilie

It does actually look alright though... Certainly an interesting concept. It looks pretty awful though, but I'm sure if they actually get a publisher it'll end up looking far better.

I hope that water is dynamic ^^
