There have been so many rumours about the now infamous Final Fantasy VII from the PSone being remade, be it for Nintendo's DS and Wii or the PlayStation 3. However, now Square Enix has gone on record to flat out deny any plans for such a project.
Character designer Tetsuya Nomura, speaking to Japanese publication Dorimaga, has stated: "It appears that there are often overseas rumours like 'Are you currently developing a VII remake?' My apologies, but were absolutely not making [such a game]."
However, keeping the dream alive is Yoshinori Kitase, director of the whole Final Fantasy VII Compilation project. He added: "However, when we ask the staff who are making FFXIII why they entered the company, there are many people who say, 'I'm an FFVII fan, I also want to do a remake.'" In response to this, Nomura-san said: "We of course know ourselves what the fans want so we'd like to continue thinking up a variety of things. As long as there are people who want to make it and people who are waiting for it, we don't want to proclaim 'the end.'"
So that basically rules out any chance of the game being remade in time for the close of FFVII's 10th anniversary...perhaps Square Enix will hold off until the 15th year anniversary instead and then decide which system has the biggest userbase to support such a largescale project.
Stick around for further updates...
