Nintendo Media | Harvest Moon Wii Screens

By Jorge Ba-oh 19.04.2007 16

It's a Marvelous day for farming fans for a handful of crop from the upcoming Harvest Moon: Tree of Peace for Wii have hit the web.

The game takes place on an island that bares home to a goddess and a great tree (sounds familiar). Disaster strikes as the tree begins to wilt and the goddess disappears. Critters known as Koropokkuru seek help from players to help farm the land, forge relationships and revive the aging tree.

Thanks to Famitsu for the screens..

Looks nice, reminds me of A Wonderful Life, would be nice to play a game like that.

I dunno why, but seeing that penguin makes me want this game Smilie

Looks pretty sweet, seems to be shaping up nicely Smilie

I hope that the first image is a small mini-game, nothing more. I am starting to worry how the current "thing" with Wii games is a spam of poor mini-games.

The other screenshots look great, something I will no doubt purchase for the girlfriend.

There is horse racing on most Harvest Moon games. Smilie This is the first 3D one to do it though.

Hooray, a penguin. That aside, the screenshots aren't actually that impressive. They aren't a quantum leap on from the GC visuals. I'm sure that the gameplay will be great (well, not sure - judgement is reserved for now - but 'tis very likely), but I really cannot get that excited over such shots.

Screwing the rules since 1989.

As the resident Harvest Moon fanfamily, I look forward to the gameplay. The graphics look satisfactory and as long as they are cute, I am a happy man. I am hoping for A Wonderful Life graphics and Magic Melody depth - too much to ask for? I think not. Bring it on so I can get married and have a kid all over again.

Temporarily banned until further notice.

I don't like it. It looks too much like a GC game.

Why do you have a Wii if you don't like games that look like GC games? Smilie

People seem to be forgetting that Harvest Moon has never really been much of a hardware pusher graphically, plus those screens don't seem that great quality wise in the first place.

True, they are blurry, i have seen better screens elsewhere and im sure that these graphics animate far better than the games previously. LS

Could someone post a pic of the starange looking animals again, especially that Penguin.

Magical Melody had sub-dreamcast graphics (as well as being a shit game), I'm not expecting much. It's a completely tarnished series now, and I love the original.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

There are many game series that are tarnished as you put it with sub standard games, Resident Evil series has some not so good games, but it did not stop the latest from being fantastic game as this game may well be.

Developers strive to make improvements all the time with a new game within a series, it's just a shame when they divert too far off the path when trying to do something new, and end up mucking up the fundamental gameplay hooks that made the game so good.

It has to be about making welcome inclusions while retaining the magic of the stand out game within the series.

Just because there is a bad game within a series does not mean i will dismiss it, to me when there has been a run of bad games it means they have been struggling, attempting to inject new life into the series albeit unsucessfully, but sometimes these attempts work with flying colours, and what with the Wii Rem functionality the scope for welcome change is greatly increased.

The series could be VERY profitable to Nintendo and Natsume depending on the success of the DS version, another success among the wider audience who like such games would be great, AC practically sells the DS, and if that level of sucess can be transferd over to the Wii alongside Nintendo's own fantastic offering, i for one am all for it. Show us ya Penguins!

I seriously thought that first one was a DS screenshot. The other two aren't that bad though I suppose...

Well it's the best looking Harvest Moon game I've ever seen. I think I'll like the style a lot when I play it.

(warning: one of my rants on why HM 64 is better than HM AWL, kind of off topic)
As long as it's better than AWL....gosh I hated that game. HM 64 was a darn good game. AWL had no real festivals, some characers that were interesting for a few minutes, and cut scenes that basically repeated (that hobo Murry guy left my town about five times it seems like, the scientist and monster scenes got old quick, etc). HM 64 had interesting characters, real plots like characters because of feuds, a possible future wife twisting her ankle conveniently in front of your house, the teleportation device, the greedy man who came to town and ripped people off (a rather deep moment about whether his money made him happy or not), etc. And there was a monkey.

I always felt like I accomplished things in Harvest Moon 64. Never ever felt that way in AWL.

TAG: That American Guy

Of course Harvest Moon has never been about great graphics, but I do think that there's a limit - these just look horrible.

I really enjoy some of the games in the series, although if I'm going to be staring at a game world for long periods of time, I'd expect them to be vaguely interesting. To be honest, I'd even prefer a rather obvious anime/cel-shaded graphic to this.

Very bland, and more than a little disappointingly. Smilie
