Australians love Nintendo it seems, with the Interactive Entertainment Association holding various awards for games that they feel have achieved well in the market down under (first reported here). Nintendo came back with various awards for titles that have inspired, and dominated the sales charts, according to IGN.

  • Nintendo GoTY 2006: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Most Innovative: Wii Sports
  • Most sales: Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends (Simulator genre)
  • Most sales: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (RPG genre)
  • Girls' GoTY: Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends

    In other categories, Cars took the adventure award, Need for Speed Carbon, racing, and Lego Star Wars II the action.

    Their credability goes out the window when they give Cars adventure game of the year. Furthermore, Zelda should have taken that spot as it is more of an adventure game than RPG.

    Though these awards are just... bleh, it is good to see that Nintendo have been enjoying a huge success in Australia.
