Nintendo Rumour | Capcom Bringing Okami to Wii?

By Jorge Ba-oh 13.02.2007 21

Rumour: Nintendo fans of the PlayStation 2 masterpiece Ōkami may possibly be in for a treat with a recent rumour of the Clover Studio project landing on Wii.

According to IGN Wii, Capcom US is considering bringing the title to Wii with the machine's remote offering a unique take on the adventures of Amaterasu.

Capcom UK replied, "Officially we have no plans for Okami on Wii at this time. Research and development are always looking at possibilities but given Clover is now closed for business, I think it highly unlikely a Wii version would be possible."

However with the closure of Clover Studios earlier this year, the chances of Ōkami appearing on the Wii could be slightly dented, however with members of the team heading back to Capcom a port or whole new version may not far off.

We'll keep you updated with any further news.

I read this over on the GAF about an hour or so ago.

There is a irony that we are gagging for a PS2 port instead of complaining about one. Smilie

Lol, true, but quite a lot of the time the PS2 ports are shit Smilie

It sounds horrbly farfetched, but if Capcom released Okami on Wii, & made a Viewtiful Joe 3, then they'd be back in my good books.

& my good books are better than Sony's. 'Cos my good book has.... erm.... Apple Juice in it.

True how very true.

What would be a problem about porting Okami to Wii. There is sourcecode everywhere, there are comments in this code (hopefully). And ...now port it!

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

that would be freakin sweet. the wii was practically born for this game.

How about a Gamecube port instead? I need something to play until I can afford a Wii damnit >_>

I would have sold MUCH better if they released it for the Gamecube in the first place.

I highly doubt a Wii version.

Okami would be a perfect fit with the Wii (or even the DS for that matter). Drawing with a Wiimote would be so much better than using a joystick.

And Megadanxzero, you need to start saving your money for a Wii Smilie

There won't be many more games coming out for GC, and no major ones (Backyard Baseball 2007 is the only future release for GC listed at GameTab...the last one being Zelda:TP).

How can you say that? We haven't had that many PS2 ports announced yet. And even then, they aren't shockingly awful. Smilie

I hope you're being sarcastic.

Because if you're not, I'm going to have to call the nice men in white coats to come & get you. Smilie

i doubt we will ever see a Wii Okami... Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

I can understand games made by Sony not coming on to a Nintendo console but I would love for the Silent Hill games to come on to the Wii.

There was a strong possibility of it when CLover Studios was still about, but since it closed the chances has become slimmer, but then again many of the staff at Clover are still at CAPCOM, which certainly doesn't rule out a Wii port.

This game seems so much more in place on the Wii than the PS2 to me, and I don't care about getting a PS2-port. As long as its an amazing game, who gives a shaite?

I am forbidden from saying anything about MP3 that hasn't been stated officially by Nintendo already (cause I want to keep my job Smilie.

If you've seen some of the trailers, or played the demos at E3 or later, you've seen some of the AI's I'm working on (and killed a few if you played a demo).

After we ship, I can discuss more, but until then my lips are sealed Smilie

I cannot see this happening, but i would like to think it will in future, Clover studios is no more and the two members that have reformed to create SEED studios have no ownership rights to the title, sadly Okami would have been fantastic on Wii, or even a sequel but it will never happen in that form, but Seed software have stated that they will be supporting the Wii and DS with ground up new projects. LS

^ Mongo you make sure the game has a multiplayer game we all deserve lol, and that it is released to coincide and go up against Halo 3 and alike and take them all on for sheer class.

I would sell my soul for this to be a Wii game. U listing Satan...I mean Capcom.

Enoch Powell was right, and you know it.
