Following the announcements of a Dance Dance Revolution game as well as Dewy's Adventure on Wii, Konami has now revealed at its Gamers' Day that it has three new DS titles on the boil in addition to the Wii goodies.
First up is GoPets: Vacation Island, a title that appears to be cashing in on the animal rearing phenomenon that has swept the globe thanks to Ubisoft's Dogz and Catz, EA's The Sims 2: Pets and, of course, Nintendo's own four nintendogs iterations.
In the game, gamers will be able to create, raise, and train either a virtual dog or cat. Konami has slipped in a nice little twist, though, as once you have done the raising, you can take your pet(s) online to mingle with others using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to hook up to people's DS systems or...even the PC version of the game! Sadly this is all that is currently known, but expect more soon.
Next up is Time Ace, an arcade-style flight game where players are sent through time. It centres on Dr. Hugo Clock, a man that creates a time machine in an attempt to stop World War I. As is always the way, his assistant, Klaus Scythe, is rather devious and steals the machine to collect weapons throughout time and rule the world. So you, as Dr. Clock, must cease the nefarious Scythe, flying planes from nine different eras to do so, such as biplanes, jets and futuristic fighters. Time Ace has nineteen levels in its story mode, but also has wireless dogfights and racing modes for up to four player fun.
As for Konami's third game, it is actually developed by Hudson (of Bomberman fame and, more recently, Kororinpa and Wing Island on Wii). 'Honeycomb Beat' is, surprisingly enough, based on honeycombs that are flipped with a tap of the stylus. It is a piece of puzzling fun where once a honeycomb is flipped, all nearby pieces switch colour as well. There will be two hundred puzzles in two different modes to keep people busy. Puzzle Mode requires you to form shapes with multiple honeycombs and Evolution Mode has people quickly removing panels by making rows of honeycombs the same colour.
The latter two games are set for a Spring 2007 US release, whilst just a '2007' has been given for GoPets.
Other than that, it was also revealed that Konami's Arcade DS Collection will have several Wi-Fi modes, including multiplayer, game sharing, replay sharing and a dual DS mode. Any game that had two-player compatibility, you will actually be able to play against opponents online, whilst for the ones where you wait for your turn, these are also online, but you just sit and wait online until the other player completes their go! Game sharing is possible via just one DS card, whilst replay sharing lets you save replays and then send them to friends. Dual DS mode is the strangest, though, as you can send the game to another DS, but play it on your own DS...
Finally, a jukebox feature is included, letting you listen to tunes even with the DS lid closed.
