Nintendo News | Konami Returns Strong on Wii

By Adam Riley 02.02.2007 30

Following the exceedingly cute, yet also high quality Eledees on Nintendo's Wii, the same team within Konami has revealed its latest project: Dewy's Adventure. Whilst European gamers are still waiting on the release of the re-titled Elebits, Konami has announced via IGN that its next Wii project is to be a fast-paced platform adventure that exudes energy, bright and vibrant colours, as well as a fantastic sense of fun.

In an exclusive interview with IGN, it was also revealed that if gamers are asking for it, a sequel to Eledees may also come in the near future. In addition to this, there are currently rumours that Konami has plans to announced a few more titles in the near future. Sadly, the latest Castlevania game will not be one of them, since it has been revealed on Sony's PSP...

Damn! This looks awesome! It needs a name change for sure, and the style could have been a bit less cutesy, but the idea behind it is really interesting and I can see it being a quality game. Kudos Konami for creating another original IP on Wii already...now give us our Pro Wiivolution Soccer!

It's also the only Wii game so far which actually has normal mapping.

    That's something right there.

Yep, it's been proven to be possible on Wii now, thankfully. If a game which has less focus on graphics and more on physics (as was said in the interview) uses it, there really is no excuse for developers being lazy.

Woohoo, first game I'm a bit excited about for Wii! (apart from Mario Galaxy)

Now they need to change the voice for the intro and make some music without such a sucky beat, and it will be great.

    <3!

(Mason, didn't he say in the interview that they DID put a lot of attention to the graphics, in contrary to Elebits, where it was all about the physics?)

You're right, I was only skim reading it before in a rush. Still, there's no excuse anymore, Wii CAN do normal mapping afterall.

This game looks absolutely nuts. The bouncy carnival music only heightens my expectations.

Game looks like Pikmin/Monkey Ball love-child.

    Less posty, more gamey.

My God this game reminds me SO much of something... Too bad I have absolutely no idea what it is... Possibly hints of Tales of Symphonia for some reason, but I'm sure it's mainly something else

    Anyway, I loved the sound of the music and that art style looks fantastic. In terms of the graphics I think some of the textures need some work, but everything else looks pretty nice. I love this screen ;-;

The smoke in this one looks awesome too

I'm not sure about the tilting thing... It seems far too many developers are just gonna do this with the controller and think it's enough. As long as it plays well I'm not hugely concerned about it though.

I quite liked the music too actually... Especially in the trailer

This game looks awesome, seriously. At first I shuddered just at the name, but for the graphics alone I see hope in this...shallow, I know Smilie

    Smilie

Smilie that game looks preety awsome... reminds me of PIKMIN Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

I can't see any normal mapping...

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I'm thinking they mean on the pot that the boss is in at the end, perhaps? If the developer claims it's in there, I'm assuming it is, maybe we just can't see it so well in the movies released so far (not exactly the best of quality, are they?).

I hope the camera system is good, there seems to be quite some zooming in and out of the action.
We need some good puzzles in there too.

I think the temperature/weather system gives a lot of potential for puzzles, so I agree and hope they give us some decent ones! Smilie

This game looks great, though a serious name change is in order.

The noises Dewy makes remind me far more of the Chao from Sonic Adventure than of Pikmin...

And why are people complaining about the name so much? Dewy is a hilarious pun

Pikmin 1 and 2 rocked so much two of the best games of the last generation consoles.

I don't think we'll get much more now, if anything. They've announced/shown quite a few things.

The name just sounds a bit childish with the 'Adventure' on the end. Not sure how they could rectify it, really...I'm pretty used to it now. I've been watching the trailer so much, really am looking forward to this so much!
