Nintendo Media | Fresh Radio Allergy Screens (Space Shooter, GameCube)

By Adam Riley 17.01.2007 9

Many may believe the GameCube is a dead system, but Zelda sold over half a million in December alone in the US proving otherwise. Therefore, O3 is set to capitalise on this with Radio Allergy, a new space shooter for the GC.

The arcade shooter game for the Nintendo GameCube is scheduled to launch in February. Featuring three different gameplay modes, Radio Allergy is a modern day revival to the classic arcade style shooters like Gradius and R-Type. Keen to drive sales further, o3 makes mention of how Radio Allergy takes full advantage of backwards compatibility, being playable on the new Wii console.

Mike Pepe, Product Manager O3 Entertainment, had this to say:

"Radio Allergy is perfect for the arcade shooter fans, and is easy to pick up and learn for the every day gamer. With a full arsenal of weapons at your control, players will love the explosions, power-ups, and story line in Radio Allergy."

Developed by Milestone Inc., who also did O3's other GC space shooter release Chaos Field, Radio Allergy sets the heroine, Shizuru Kamigusa against a ruthless group of terrorists. Shizuru must utilise her portable terminal suit to defeat the terrorists and their leader Ruiki Mishima. This shooter offers three game modes: Arcade, Score, and 'Full Belly'. Arcade and Score allow players to follow the story and the missions that go with them, whilst in 'Full Belly' mode, the portable terminal suit is given maximum power and unleashes droves of damage against non-stop enemies causing even larger explosions.

More information on the game can be found at O3's official website.

Fresh screens and the game's logo can be seen in the media folder below.

As far as thrid party games, the GameCube realy is dead.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

The game already exists for the gamecube in japan since long ago. it's known ther as Radilgy, and it was also released for the dreamcast some time ago. Besides that game is just a port from the dreamcast version, but still it's cool.

If you still don't believe me take a look at this :

Yep it's a NAOMI port, and there's another Milestone shooter coming out in March called Karous.

It's great that Radirgy is getting a US GC release, but to be honest the DC version is probably better becuase of the d-Pad, unless you have a Hori 2D pad.

Not played it myself, because Under Defeat is better.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I discover, that there are much more shooter that I am aware off. Is it possible to name all these to me and maybe with a link or with Cubed3-reviews? That would be nice.
I hope Cubed3 gives us reviews about Radio Allergy too... Wonder if these games are good...

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Let's see there's Ikaruga of course, Shikigami no Shiro 2, Chaos field, Radilgy and The Star Soldier port. I don't know about Under Defeat. These are the ones I know of for the GameCube. And if ya got a PS2, Gradius 5 and R-type Final are both good picks Smilie.

Grumbler> I do have a 2D Hori Pad Smilie, so i think i'll pick radilgy, but considering i'm european, i don't know if i'll wait to import the US version, or buy the japanese version right away instead.

Doesn't make great difference to me, i'll have to use my free loader boot disc in both cases anyway.

Under Defeat was on DC last year. Fantastic game, flashy graphics and ace music.

Thanks Grumbler. Good stuff.

Wow, and these shots sure show some interesting style! I have to see this in motion and will definitely have a close look to this. It looks promising. Hope it plays well and... well, I will pick this up I think!
Thanks for the shots, Adam!

I remember seeing this previewed in NGamer (shudder) a few months ago as Radilgy. Got a score in the 60s I think...although in comparison to Ikaruga (GameCube wise), what is there that can really surpass it?

I don't really like the art style to be honest, either.

Me neither... I can't help thinking it's some kind of moderately well-made Flash game when I look at it... Certainly not for me >_>
